Most likely you getting error message in Gimp because it doesn't support layered DDS files.

There's a plugin that properly translates DDS files from/to Photoshop. Here's a link: https://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/intel-texture-works-plugin

Any suggestions for viewing the dds files? I've tried using GIMP but it gives an error when trying to read them.

All images stored in compressed format inside the mod file. As long as converter you mentioned
accepts DDS format as input you can do that. Hope that answers your question. Otherwise you have to be more specific.

My message was a bit confusing. What I meant was, is it possible to extract the images used in the mod and convert them with Whips so they can be viewed on LCDs? The only method I've tried so far is taking ingame screenshots and then converting them with Whips.

@Raven Catcher - Sure. You can replace mod dds files with your own images and publish as your own variation of this mod. If if't server based game then it will depend on mod version installed by admin since all clients sync with the hosting server's mod list.

Would love to use the LCD images on the server I'm currently apart of but I'm not in control of the mods installed. Are the images available outside the mod so a person could convert them to .dds themselves and use them on their LCDs?
