JD's Pyramid Flying Craft
I got an idea from a discussion about a pyramid and that starting me thinking "Can I build a Flying Pyramid" ?

So here is my progress so far ..... with screenshots.

Adding screenshots now

What can the pilot see?

Thanks for the comments. I did put the 2 big blades inside, unfortunately there's not a lot of room inside so could only place them near the bottom of the pyramid. Think you can guess what happened .... lol yes it flipped upside down. Not much fun flying that way. 😂

I thought u had stack the blades inside.
Erdenstern 23 Mar 7, 2018 @ 7:29pm
You could begin with a solid 4 or 16 big airblades base at the bottom and then build the pyramid around and on top of that.

It would need to be twice as big to accomodate 4 large blades. I could only get 2 inside with this size.

Ok, twist my arm, will make it super-size then :-))

🤔how about building/expanding downwards instead...more cheese!

That would be the plan, yes.I did that last time to add a few more levels.

Hover then add blocks to the bottom, around and around I go lol

Added more layers, air-blades now inside but it will invert when switched on :-)

It would look better to me if it could work when the big airblades would be hidden inside at the bottom of the pyramid, so that one would only see the pyramid flying around. And maybe also put a big beacon inside with the beam coming out of the top.

I thought in fact to take heavier blocks at the bottom under the airblades to have the main weight centre more down to the base of the pyramid.

Will try that next. Gotta get this beast flying lol

I made myself a try to build a flying pyramid.

And here an insight view when it's half done.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5C6IBa3102Q

Started with this as bottom.

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1333509010

If there should also be a big Light beacon in the pyramid with the light coming out of the top there must be 3rows of 1x1x1 blocks in the mid, actually there are 2.

If airblades should not clip through the floor there has to be 2 blocks more distance beetween the bottom and the airblades at the bottom.
And also 1 block larger to each side for that the big airblades do not clip through the side of the pyramid.

A look at the corner.

One side is done

View from inside when pyramid is closed.

Top view

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1333512402

Total weight of pyramid is 205.120

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1333513028

At the bottom I have 196 ceiling blocks 4x4 with a total weight of 117.600 and 228 blocks 1x1x1 with a total weight of 6.840. So in total the bottom alone weights already 124.440 wich is about 60% of the total weight of the pyramid that is located UNDER the big airblades at the bottom and so the pyramid does not turn over when flying.

Well this also shows that you can make a flying aircraft with the airblades hidden inside.

wow, am impressed with that design. Nice one my friend.

I didn't get anywhere near finished with mine so congrats to you.

Luv the diagrams that show how you did it. Maybe I will now complete mine using your guide.

Thanks for this. You are The 'Engineer' congrats

Happy nomading

Well, I started to build first the bottom of a quarter of the pyramid and half into the height to see if everything fits and then only the pyramid in total.

I must just move the cockpit more to the front, actually I land in the pyramid and have to build my way out if I want to leave the pyramid.
