Musket warfare?
Would it be doable to create a total conversion with an 18h century/Napoleonic kind of combat? Musket volleys, bayonet charges skirmishing, etc? Not many games cover this era particularly well, especially on the small scale. Was thinking of possibly maybe working on a French and Indian War mod.

Failing that would pike and shotte be possible?

We have mechanics for ranged combat and melee, so doing that is possible. The only issue would be that our ranged combat is designed for bows, so muskets would world exactly the same as bows and shoot in arcs instead of straight lines. Might look weird.

That would present an issue. Would it be possible to make straight-shooting units via animations and/or blueprints? Lot of tutorials on how to do that stuff in Unreal.

You can do that in a clean UE4 and you can do that in the version we've released. It's just that in order for our combat code to work (damage modifiers, armors, angles, status effects, health and so on) you have to use classes and logic we've made in our game.

Therefore, the best way to go around that is:
1. Make the effect you want.
2. Use it in the firing animation or in blueprint, wherever fits you best.
3. Make a copy of the projectile that the game uses and assign the new copy to your musket squad.
4. Make the speed of that projectile very big, so that nobody ever sees that the bullet itself does not go in a straight line. They will see the effect you made instead.

This may sound like a hacky way to do it, but that's how many things are done during game development ;)
