Akaneiro: Demon Hunters
A long overdue update...
May 8, 2013 - Spicy Horse Games

First off, seems we've been dumb in the ways of Steam and Greenlight... answering questions and posting updates in the comments, but neglecting the fact we could simply post updates to the page itself. Sorry about that! We get so busy we let things like this slip. Thank you, to some of our Kickstarter backers, for pointing out the error of our ways!

Now! To the update and the news:

A lot of questions about when the game will hit Steam and what's taking so long. Regarding timing, as you're mostly aware the game is already running on SpicyWorld and Kongregate. We've been using the data and feedback from those platforms to adjust and improve the game since start of the year. Frankly, we felt (and continue to feel) the game needs features added, game play balancing and other elements tuned before it's ready to be unleashed on Steam. We feel there's only one chance to have a strong launch here - and we *really* don't want to mess it up!

As for the current thinking on when the game will actually arrive on Steam... we've been talking with Valve about first putting the game into the Early Access program. The team is working on this goal now with a tentative date set at end of May. Due to the nature of Early Access there will be a "buy in" starter pack offered for a nominal fee - containing currency, items and goodies to make getting into the game fast and fun.

For the official launch on Steam it's hard to set a date. We want to use the feedback provided via Early Access to make further improvements... but hope that process takes no more than a month or two.

If you have other questions you'd like answered or feedback you'd like to send to us, please feel free to email us via contact (at) spicyhorse (dot) com - or visit us over on the SpicyWorld forums. As usual, we'll check back here to read and respond to comments on the page.

The team appreciates your continued support and understanding. We're getting close! :)

For all the open and closed beta members from your site, how will they get on via steam? I am hoping not to, though willing to, pay for it again.

Amazing. Thanks for sharing the info with us!

@Duke, yeah we're getting more info from Valve on how this can be structured and we're exploring all possibilities. Still on target for a launch soon... hopefully this week. Fingers crossed.

This is what I meant. Archeblade offers a paid starter pack AND a free version. Since they are also in the Early Access program, that means that it's a possibility.

@Duke - Our plan was to offer the game for free on Steam (as we do on Kong and SpicyWorld). We'll have to see how things go during Early Access in order to determine what's going to make the most sense on Steam. As with the answer to @dlmyth above, we hope to have a better understanding of this sometime this week or ASAP.
Spicy Horse Games May 12, 2013 @ 6:15pm
@dlmyth - We will try to come up with a program to ensure you get your KS backer rewards and that they are delivered in a way that's fair (and makes sense for Early Access). Early Access is a new wrinkle for us - because the system *forces* us to only offer the game with an initial purchase - it does not yet support offering the game free inside that program (not that we know of anyway). Your KS backer codes would still work inside the Early Access game, but you'd have to make the initial purchase (unless we can figure out a way with Valve to have free access codes for backers who want to also join Early Access). We are working on those details now (week of May 11). Will try to post an update on this topic ASAP.

Looking forward to rocking this game on steam sweet!

What about KS people that already funded the game. Will we need to buy the starter pack too? Also, will it work with our codes that provides us some of the items from KS?
