Recruits Alpha Demo - Now Available
December 8, 2012 - 3dRobbo

There is now a free demo for everyone to download and try.

If you would like to play the demo head over to our Main Site[] or use one of the mirrors below:

If you can, share it around everywhere you can. It will help us get the word out and promote the game in the hopes of becoming available on Steam on day.

This demo includes 2 of the missions from the full version alpha. Many features and bug fixes are missing in this demo but it's main purpose is to give people a feel for where the Recruits development is heading and to better make a decision on whether to pre-order the game.

Use the demo to test your PC to see if you can run Recruits before you pre-order the full game.
System Requirements[]

When you purchase Recruits, you will receive an ‘in development’ version of the game which includes all future updates untill the end of development. The ‘in development’ version will contain bugs and issues but the team at Commotion Games aims to provide regular updates to improve the game. This is a ‘Pre-Order’ for the final game meaning, no matter the final price or distribution platform, you will receive the final game when it is completed.
I hope you enjoy playing the demo enough to help support the ongoing development of Recruits. We are a very small team, working as hard as we can trying to live the dream of becoming professional game developers.

Thanks to everyone who has supported us so far, we really really appreciate it! Next on our list is to get multiplayer up and running and have everyone fighting together... or against eachother.

Pre Order Now[]

The Numbers, although misleading, are not trivial. They are set to varying quality levels for the FXAA (There is currently the misleading x2, x4 etc for clarity [which may not be helping]). The Options the player can choose range from a simple breaking of aliasing and a low quality sub-pixel aliasing removal filter on the low end, with a significantly increased end-of-edge search radius on the higher end. THey also begin to increase the effected local contrast range. Higher levels also have high quality without any (theoritical) artifacts. Of course this causes an increase in performance cost.

Ultimatly, We have a belief in player control. By allowing the player to tune the preferences to their liking, it gives them an additional level of control over the play. We will look into renaming them. (Especially once we start looking into adding MLAA)

I can provide a whitepaper for the FXAA implementation we are using upon request.

@Rob | Commotion Games - Just use Low or High for FXAA..or even better On and Off and not low med and high or even worse the damn numbers :P

As if difference between 4x and 8x had any meaning in action.

@PONY|Oliver M.D The latter, we are still getting the settings working right, basically its FXAA [] with lower numbers being lower quality and higher being higher quality.

i like the game but i wish there was ability to prone, as well as rotate the camera. That or implement a system to show soldiers/targets behind cover or foliage.

Also the ability to zoom in would be great too.

>FXAA x2 x4 x8 -- sorry but what? is this real AA now or just some shitty ass FXAA with stupid options?

In game v2
weapons disappear and ammo runs fast - extend weapon stay?
2nd mission - how do they see me at night in the bushes when I'm silent?
2nd mission - single enemies ignore missed pistol shots
2nd nission - stealth approach - great!!!
pistol should be deadly accurate at few meters distance if crouched and non moving
