Ir/rational Investigator

You can now play the Investigator demo free here:

In case it wasn't already clear, I am not developing further Irrational games because I got sick of designing logic puzzles.

For prosperity I am releasing the work we completed, which roughly 20-30 minutes of vertical slice quality gameplay.

I'm very proud of the game we made, and I'm happy everyone finally has a chance to try it for themselves.

Huge thanks to my contributors, Mikko Tarmia, Martin Camargo and Chris Burrows.

I did an interview at GDC in which I talked a little about why we're making Ir/rational Investigator. Check it out at

From Thursday next week I will be in Boston and then San Francisco for PAX East and GDC. I'll have an improved version of the 15 minute demo of Ir/rational Investigator that was submitted to this year's IGF, and it will be playable on iPad for anyone who cares to come find me and give it a go.

At PAX I will generally be found at the Facepalm Games booth on the Indie Megabooth show floor. At GDC I will wandering about with a loud English accent.

Hope to see you there!

So Investigator didn't place in IGF (though FTL did, congrats to Justin and Matt!), but the defeat is softened by the shortlisting of Ir/rational Redux - the game on which Investigator is building - in JayIsGame's Best of 2012!

Voting is now open here if you'd care to support us just a little more:

In Investigator news I'm hard at work designing and implementing the rest of episode 1. It's slow and steady. More news as it develops.

PS I'll be at both PAX East and GDC this March with the IGF demo playable. If you fancy a play keep your eyes on this feed.
