Gojigaboga has been greenlit thanks to you!

We would like thank everyone for the support you have given us this far. Getting greenlit means that we are one step closer to release. It's easier to work on the game with full motivation now that we know it's getting a release on Steam. The release date is not decided, but we have a plan for the nearby future. We'll get back to working on the game now so you'll get to play it as soon as possible =)

Gojigaboga's greenlight is coming along nicely so far! We've got a lot of questions from you about the game, so we wanted to answer a few of them here. Feel free to ask more questions.

Does the game have jumpscares?
No, not really. We don't think that scripted events happening at a certain locations is a good way to make a horror game. Gojigaboga is not a linear, story-based horror game. We focus more on a creepy atmosphere and interesting enemy interaction in an open world where the player makes the choices.

How do the enemies behave?
The enemies in Gojigaboga have an advanced AI that lets them wander around the building, open doors etc. When they spot a player they will pursue the player until the player is dead or until they lose track of the player. If they lose track of the player the enemy will start searching for the player, this includes opening closets and looking through windows etc. This is the standard AI pattern, each enemy type has some extra finesse added to this that we won't tell you =)

How do permadeath work in Gojigaboga?

What parts are generated?
Spawn location, loot, doors, room illumination, some walls and furniture are randomly generated. The overall layout of the building will stay the same though.

What platforms will you support?
PC, Linux (and SteamOS), Mac. We haven't tested on all of these platforms yet, but it should work.

First of all, thank you for you feedback!

We got a lot of comments about permadeath, so we want to clarify a few things. First and foremost, the game is played in short sessions. It's a sandbox environment consisting of a apartment complex with a few apartment floors, attic, basement, stairs etc. The goal of the game is to escape the building. This can be done in several ways and we're not going to spoil those for you here. But let's say it could involve the following: gathering supplies, putting out a fire, restoring power and repairing a machine etc. Escaping the building should take a few hours, perhaps faster for experienced players. If you get killed you start over again, but you have probably learnt a few things about the environment making your next attempt a little easier. Spawn location, items and parts of the house are randomly generated, so it will not look the same though. One thing you do keep through death is collectibles. These are scattered around the building, and for those of you hunting 100% you have to find them all =)
