Hacker Experience 2 - real-time location-based hacking simulator
May 29, 2016 - Napster

Thank you all for your support! Hacker Experience 2 has been green-lit and will be available on Steam as soon as the BETA release comes out (expected September 2016).

We've peaked among the 10 most voted games of Greenlight. This gives us a great morale boost and will definitely help the game development.

By the way, did you know HE2 is open source? You can track its development at our Development Center[dev.hackerexperience.com]. Read more about it at Let's Build A Game[letsbuildagame.org].

If you are interested in playing the game, don't miss the opportunity to grab it for a price lower than the final one. Pre-order now at Indiegogo.

Hello Greenlight, thanks for the votes and comments so far!

First of all, let me introduce myself. My name is Renato and I'm the author of Hacker Experience 1[legacy.hackerexperience.com], a simple online text-based hacking simulator released about two years ago.

We want to take the next step and create a truly immersive hacking simulation, with everything you'd expect from it and something more. Please, take a look at our home page[hackerexperience.com] for a detailed explanation of features and the idea behind the game.

Before anything, did I say Hacker Experience 2 will be open source? In fact you are invited to build it with us. If you want to be a part of this journey, take a look at Let's build a game[letsbuildagame.org].

We are running a crowdfunding campaign at Indiegogo, which is our main hope to make Hacker Experience 2 actually happen. We've been working on it for over a year, and now it's finally time to show what we have. By the way, this is a great opportunity to get a big discount on the game & fund its development.

Your help and votes here are greatly appreciated. If you like the game or the idea behind it, please spread the word and share for those who you think might also like it. Let's make it happen!

Now, I must say the video and screenshots above are from a prototype we've been working on. We are no designers and we expect to have a MUCH better look & feel for the final release of the game. You probably have noticed that we are no video producers either :)

Also, the trailer fails to make clear that we want to have Hacker Experience 2 everywhere: on your web browser, Desktop, Linux-based OS, mobile phone, video game and even on your terminal console.

A few more things I'd like to highlight:

  • You don't need any sort of technical knowledge in order to fully enjoy the game.
  • You will learn some stuff about computers, specially regarding to security, encryption and privacy.
  • You might enjoy playing Hacker Experience 1[legacy.hackerexperience.com] in the meantime, but please have in mind that Hacker Experience 2 will be a thousand times better.
  • We've been keeping this blog[leaks.hackerexperience.com] not-so-updated about the development progress.

We are just getting started with the crowdfunding/steam campaign now, so things are a bit raw yet, but we'll keep this page updated. The other two developers happen to be more shy than me, so I'll introduce them later.

I'm more happy to answer and discuss any questions you might have. Feel free to post a discussion here or drop me an email at renato@hackerexperience.com, I'll reply ASAP.
