November 26, 2014 - MrKittyForPrez2020

This is truly an auspicious occasion. This week, we celebrate a holiday (at least, here in America) awaited year-round by people all over the nation. It’s a holiday in which we give thanks to our fellow citizens for their generosity, their great passion, and their love of getting the latest, cutting-edge electronics at cut-rate prices. This is, of course, Black Friday. It’s mostly celebrated by corporations, but since corporations are people, my earlier statement holds.

But did you know that there’s another holiday happening this week, too? It’s called Thanksgiving, and it’s a holiday in which we…give thanks. But if you were worried that you might not have anything to be thankful for, we’re here to help!

The latest additions to the world of A.V. are complete! For your enjoyment, we’ve made a new build of the game for public release (See to get a copy!). This new release includes graphical upgrades, thanks to our recent discovery of what technophile types know as “PRETTIFICATION TECHNOLOGY”. The new release also includes patches to some significant bugs. You’ll be seeing a lot more of this going forward on account of the efforts of our NEW QA TEAM! So please welcome and give thanks to A.J. Mandula, Hanna Doerr, and Laksminarayanan Vijayaraghavan. It’s now their job to tell us what’s wrong with the game so we can remove those problems before they get to you!

Before signing off, we’d also like to mention that we’ll be holding another public playtesting session here at the R.I.T. campus. The current date in mind is on Friday, December 12th. We will provide more information as the date comes closer. Come by and join us! As with our last public play test, any Kickstarter donors who are waiting on T-shirts can receive them here. We’ll be sending along more details as we draw closer to the testing date.

So there we are! The appropriate puns for this Thanksgiving update would be:
- It offers up "a cornucopia" of special tidbits and rewards for our devoted followers!
- The new graphical upgrades are a virtual "feast" for the eyes!
- Be sue to "gobble" it all up!

You may now palm your face.

Hello Steam Greenlight Fans!!!!

Here we are, coming up on the end of October. First off we want to apologize for the lack of announcements, things have been chaotic and in the mess we forgot to push an update about the Kickstarter succeeding on here! Those of you who recall the timetable will know we’ve been planning to release A.V. at about this time. Well, we’ll start by saying that the game will NOT be releasing in October as planned, and we will NOT be having our release party anytime soon. :( We know that doesn’t sound too good, but it’s a simple fact of game development – delays do happen. Before you raise your pitchforks and start burning effigies of us, though, we've got a big wave of news to help soften the blow.

We've recently submitted a build of A.V. for the Independent Games Festival. For those not in the know, the IGF is the pre-eminent awards ceremony for independent games which takes place every year at the Game Developer’s Conference. The team is unsure as to our chances for success, but we wouldn’t have submitted if we thought we were fighting a lost cause. All in all, we’re hopeful.

Additionally, we’re extremely pleased to announce that MAGIC Spell Studios have decided to fund A.V.’s development for a further three months. A.V. represents one of their first publicly-released game titles, and all of us, on both sides, want the game to be of as high a quality as it can be. The added time will allow us to refine and polish A.V. to the level it deserves. This will also give us time to implement full Oculus VR support. MAGIC has also been in contact with Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo regarding use of Unity development kits for the XboxOne, PS4, and WiiU. Pending this approval, we may also be releasing builds for one or more of these platforms!

Our new release target is in the week between January 30th and February 7th, so we’ll see you then!

In the meantime, in lieu of our originally planned release party, we’re holding a public play test gathering. We’ve booked a time in RIT’s MAGIC Center on Saturday, November 1st from 1:00 to 4:00 pm EDT. (This is the day BEFORE the end of Daylight Saving Time, so there’s no need to set your clocks ahead!) We’ll have food and drinks available.

The MAGIC Center is located in the Albert J. Simone Center for Student Innovation (Bldg. 87) at Rochester Institute of Technology (maps available at Park in Lot S. So, just to wrap up, we’re sorry that we’re facing this delay, but as you can see, there’s a lot of exciting stuff happening in the world of A.V. We’re committed to making sure we do justice to this game, and that we do justice to you. As ever, thanks immensely for all of your support! We look forward to seeing you out here. Anyone that has any trouble finding it should shoot an email to: or and we can help you out! We will be posting flyers on the building to try and help out. The building is circular and has a staircase leading up to the doors on the S Lot/Crossroads building side.

Side note: We submitted our IGF build under the developer name “FirstForever Studios”. So, from now on, you might see us refer to ourselves as either the A.V. Team, or, more likely, by our new-found name. So let’s start with that today!

Hello Everyone!

We have been hard at work on preparing Zone 3 for a demo while trying to patch out the nasty bugs. We are still working on some of the puzzle setup and audio for the instruments but are hoping to release this all in a new demo soon! The new demo will also be released for Mac and Linux as well as Windows! We are also working on updated AI behaviors but this will not be shown until a little further down the road.

Finally as the title mentions our Kickstarter project has a week left of funding. The funding level is strong but not strong enough yet! If you would like to see the extra features please consider helping out. We still are going to try to release a version of A.V. if the Kickstarter fails but things like Oculus support will be dropped. As always leave a comment if you got any questions, feedback, or well just want to say hi.
