Since the last official patch, the patch fixes a bunch of networking issues and fixes a few other minor issues.

1.029 change list:

  • now handle dropping fragments of connect, connect response, and first server data much better
  • now save fragments instead of dropping out of order fragments
  • no longer send client data before getting first server data
  • now limit first few frames data rate from server a little less (5000 instead of 2000)
  • increased receive and send udp buffers from default to 100,000
  • increased max fragment start offset from 16 to 24 bits
  • now should handle packets that end exactly on the fragments size boundary better
  • changing missing base in database stuff from a critical error to an error (getting random errors before version error)
  • missile defense will now shoot at station missiles (Crusender) (IotA)
  • marines can no longer board devices and space objects (IotA)
  • now show Trade Pacts when highlighting race icons
  • increased scavenge costs from 125.0 to 150.0 (IotA)
  • increased trap damage by 50%

Since the last official patch, the patch adds Trade Pact options, greatly increases Ancients chances and power (IotA), and fixes a bunch of other minor issues.

1.028 change list:

  • added Trade Pact option for players only (automatically trades tech, contacts, and planet knowledge to race)
  • added Free Info Pact option for players only (automatically gives tech, contacts, and planet knowledge to race)
  • increased chances of ancient quests 4X (IotA)
  • increased ancient ships structure and damage (IotA)
  • added an inactive fighter mode where fighters won't fire at anything (Tuidjy)
  • now ultimate difficulty is really 4 separate difficulty levels (big difficulty level between each one)
  • added Empire Government Shutdown Galactic Karma event (IotA)
  • now doing rebel quests annoys friends and makes enemies happy (demoss)
  • decreased how much races will pay players to stop wars, start wars, and break treaties
  • added ship name to achievements that are ship specific (ScrObot)
  • improved the hide crappy loot option (goodgimp)
  • can no longer solve quests or trade with races after losing sector (Steve)
  • can no longer drop consumables on planets (they didn't work anyway) (Yindo)

Since the last official patch, the patch adds more dialog to planets, optimizes things better, fixes a bunch of memory issues, and fixes a bunch of other minor issues.

1.027 change list:

  • optimized local networking stuff some (5-33% speed up in tests)
  • changed from critical sections to recursive mutexes on mac (10-20% speed up in tests)
  • now on Mac if any pthread_mutex init call fails use old CriticalSection stuff instead
  • sped up StatusEffectAtFriendlyPlanet stuff some
  • made a lot of getDatabaseEntry calls faster (added hints)
  • now don't do a lot of Sentient::regen if stats are already maxed
  • added unique monster killed, scout killed, renegade killed, hunter killed, and assassin killed dialog to planets
  • added attack repelled, rescue died, rescue, boss, planet destroyed by race, planet destroyed by monsters, and player death dialog to planets
  • fixed a memory leak (84KB) in Database::createDatabaseEntry

Since the last official patch, the patch adds a new difficulty level, polishes a bunch of things, and fixes a bunch of minor issues.

1.026 change list:

  • added a new difficulty level - Ultimate, everything but player/components can go up to level 200
  • now active thrusters can take you above the speed cap (Tuidjy)
  • fixed secrets being empty a lot at high levels (Tuidjy)
  • races will no longer give you contacts for free (tim14916)
  • now damage per energy used by Big Bang adds tactical damage bonus (Tuidjy)
  • increased Geomagnetic Storm reuse time from 3.0 to 5.0
  • decreased Pulsar per leve damage from 25.0/35.0 to 17.5/27.5
  • Brunt can now put swarm missiles in their racial slot (lancefighter)
  • attack & defense now show more correct hit chances when in higher difficulties (Ludak021)
  • now default Drox involvement to Light instead of Minimal
  • stations now give much more xp and relations gain
  • non active crew now has happiness drops/expects to be paid (only half as fast as active crew though)
  • now show component icons in upper right corner of highlight text
  • added a splitter to component text
  • made joystick deadzone configurable
  • there is now a 5 second delay before you win a sector so you can see your final actions (Steve)
  • now resume text will show level, race, and character options (once saved with new version)
  • now Drox alliance/war order when completed shows in green on Drox screen (Steve)
  • changed PROTOCOL_VERSION to 26
  • probes now highlight attack correctly (Steve)
  • simplified some code in Sentient::updateDynamicStat
  • fixed returning to fullscreen twice
