So it has been a while since our last update here but we’re not dead by any means!
We’ve been working hard perfecting the demo and adding gameplay features so it’s less of a snap shot and more of a Ground Zeroes.

We’ll also be frequently updating our twitter and website with progress.
We intend to push the demo super hard when it does come out, so sharing our site to any of your friends letting them know it’ll be a free demo would be a super great help!
Also following our social media help too. Haha.

We are currently focusing on better graphics, including new textures and animations for each enemy type. We are also polishing many fancy doodads like automatic turrets, pressure plates, and background decorations. We are planning for a 2015 Steam Greenlight submission, hopefully we will have enough visibility by then.

The game has changed a lot since the last post, and we are considering submitting Artificial Selection on Steam Greenlight in the near future.

Changes since the last post include:

  • Tons of engine improvements
  • Vastly improved enemy AI behavior and evolution
  • Many, many more weapons
  • Evolvable gadgets, which are special abilities that take energy to use
  • A full editor that lets you create your own levels
  • Several new enemies, soundtracks, and easter eggs
  • A short campaign with a final boss

    Also, Artificial Selection won third place at the IEEE GameSIG in Fullerton, California! I've included our submission trailer and updated the screenshots.

Unfortunately, Artificial Selection was not accepted into the Experimental Gameplay Workshop. There was a record 130 entries for only 15 slots. I will continue working on this, however, though I may make huge engine changes soon to add support for more game modes, more weapons and gadgets, and maybe some form of multiplayer (managing evolving armies?). I'm currently rewriting much of the code for the inventory screen so that I can have different kinds of equipment as well as to make it less confusing. Thank you to those who participated in the experiment. As far as I know, I've responded to all of the requests, though I may have missed someone... (if I missed you, thanks for volunteering anyway)

Also, fancier graphics are on the way, though it takes me a long time to get stuff to look right.

The game is ready to be released to those who want to participate in the experiment. The instructions are included in a text file, and there is a short questionnaire afterward. If you would like to participate, just leave a comment or add me to your friends list and send me a message.
