For those unaware, we've been busy with BitSummit, which took place on March 9th in Kyoto, Japan. This event was geared towards increasing the awareness of japanese indie games. During the event we met with a lot of cool people, including Valve representatives!

Croixleur released this morning for the paltry sum of $4.99 at GamersGate, & Nyu Media website! Links to all three purchase pages are right here:

Currently we're at 86% toward the Top 100 in Steam Greenlight, so we need more votes to get it on Steam!

Don't let that put you off picking up a copy today, though - Steam keys will be provided to anyone who buys the game from any other distributor once it passes Greenlight!

For more details on Croixleur, please check out the Greenlight Description and visit the Croixleur website at:

First off, THANK YOU for all the support and positive comments! Due to a quirk of Steam Greenlight that we weren’t aware of when releasing the GL page, Croixleur was not featured in the Recent Submissions, which means spent NO time on the Steam Greenlight top page :( Despite this and thanks entirely to YOUR support we’re presently at 78% of the way to Top 100 and hopefully this week’s launch will take us over the top!

★ Where’s the trailer?
An official trailer is on the way. We had planned to release it at the same time as last week’s Greenlight launch, but it ended up delayed and we’re now scrambling to have it ready for the game launch on Thursday. To be honest, it won’t be add much beyond what’s explained about and at the, but hopefully will do the game justice :)

★ You should add [extra feature goes here]!
Thank you for some great suggestions for extra features such as themed levels, wider maps, exploration, items, traps, multiplayer, etc. Unfortunately, these are major changes and will have to wait for a follow-up, which is of course dependent on how well Croixleur does this time around. Rest assured that these are all being fed back to souvenir circ. & we really hope to make that follow up happen!
Just to clarify: we would LOVE to make the achievements and leaderboards for the three modes Steamworks-compatible (& thereby online-capable) for a Steam release and we’re exploring this now.

★ Will it be multi-OS? Does it work with the Xbox controller?
As of now, we’ve no plans to support any OS’s besides Windows, but this is something we will absolutely consider if/when does makes it onto Steam & the demand is higher. Xbox gamepad is fully supported and configurable via the config set up.

★ Will we be able to switch between English & Japanese?
The localized version is English only and there is no option to switch between English and Japanese languages, but it’s highly likely we can & will add a Japanese language option on Steam, which means you can install either or both of the English or Japanese language versions.

★ Are Japanese games really ‘at a huge disadvantage’ on Steam?
Yes! Two major factors are that Japanese games are vastly outnumbered by western games and non-Japanese games get the majority of the votes. That’s not even bringing up the haters who see red when they catch a whiff of ‘animu’ or ‘weeaboo’ game to pour scorn on. (Oh, whoops – I did bring it up ;)

★ Is $4.99 the actual price? What’s the catch?
Yes, the price is set at $4.99 & this is what it will be when it launches on GamersGate, Desura & on Thursday.
We’ve set the price with the intent of making Croixleur accessible and in consideration of the total contents of the game. To explain: the basis of the Story Mode is the Adjuvant Trial, which is a contest against the rival, Fran, to be first to beat the tower and complete the trial. As such, Luc has to 15 minutes to complete the trial and the Story Mode is played against a countdown timer of 15 minutes – any longer and Fran wins and you fail. This means that a single play through of Story Mode will be 15 minutes or less. There are, however, different routes by which to discover different weapons and depending on how well you do against the clock, you will trigger events such as fighting together with an NPC Fran and, if you do particularly well, fighting against Fran one-on-one. On top of that, there all the 20 achievements to collect. Bottom line: expect multiple play throughs!
All levels in the game are of the arena format shown in the screenshots / gameplay movie / demo and you fight against floors of enemies of increasing difficultly, culminating with the fight against the dragon shown in the screenshots & an extra level if certain criteria are met.
Croixleur is at heart an arcade game – it’s all about action and the scores, so if you consider the total offering of the Story Mode plus the Score Attack & Endless modes all together, we’re confident you’ll find this to be worth the $4.99 price.

Once again & on behalf of souvenir circ. and Nyu Media, THANK YOU for your support! 22% to go to the Top 100! Please tell your friends to check it out!!
