This game is so appealing to me because it reminds me about all the fun I had with Solaris 104. This game seems to me as a worthy successor.

I'm interested in this game primarily because it has linux support (Yay SteamOS!), it likely has full controller support and it is co-op.

Props for the "box art", but we really don't need another asteroids/geometry wars mashup. Geometry wars was never good, and asteroids was only good in the arcades.

Also, for those thinking that they're into the twin-stick part, but not the shmup part, I can assure you that the shump part is fairly tame as far as shmups go. If you can reach the final level, you can definitely beat it, even if you're the worst shmup player around (it may take you a couple tries to master the pattern, though :P).

(One more note, is that some of the visual quality was a bit lost on the Youtube trailer, so I apologize for that.)

I apologize for the lack of comments from me. However, I'm posting to assure everyone who is worried about it being visually busy that when you are actually in control it's much less overwhelming.

I will fully acknowledge that it's difficult to see the appeal of the game by watching a trailer and looking at some screenshots, so I apologize for that. There are many features that just aren't evident when watching it second-hand. (This is where I wish Greenlight allowed for demos) For those of you who don't understand the appeal, would you like a more descriptive description, where I break down the various game-modes?

Another thing I wanted to point out is that the score popups only occur when you're in a special mode that you enter by doing exceptionally well. I've since made the popups start partially transparent so they are less intrusive.

Can't tell what's going on because of the backgrounds, like others have said. I don't necessarily want them to be dumbed down. I'd like to see everything in the forground worked on so that they stand out more.

Unfortunately the similarities end there and you do not unlock the bonus thumbs up. :(
Bullet hell was never my thing, the gameplay is extremely jumbled, the numbers that obviously tells the player something.... score I suppose, are way too intrusive, I can see nothing going on on screen in that video. Perhaps I am getting old but I shouldn't have to strain my eyes and my brain to follow the action.
Anyway, I suppose all bullet hell games are like that, I wouldn't know. :)

The problem I think here is that there's nothing much here that's wanting me to play this over Geometry Wars. I think the video at about 1:40 shows the basic issue there is here... bad graphics plus an alpha transparent PNG of clouds being translated over the rest of the screen do not good graphics make.

The graphics are highly inconsistent and fall down as soon as you imagine away any single PNG background or foreground.

I'm liking the effort put into the music a lot though. I'm really torn whether I should upvote or downvote this... but I'm guessing upvote for potential and the music.

But the gameplay better be really really good :|

While @manthony_Higgs is something of a dink about this, the provided materials do little to really illustrate what makes it a title that can compete with Beat Hazard or Geometry Wars. The art style does not really spring up as looking interesting or distinctive, which won't help people's knee-jerk reactions.

It's just Asteroids with enemy types. Also, just look at those bullet points. "OH MAN WE'VE GOT SOUND EFFECTS AND SUBTITLES!" Yeah, just like every damn game since the 90s. Voted down.
