Nice grind!
(I used some mods, but the only one that actually mattered was the ladder mod, which to be honest, should be part of the base game already)
thanks for the feedback, the ocean floor has now a bit more detail and there is a new island which is bigger but also further away (far enough that a single suspension bridge wont suffice)
I do feel the map would be even greater if you add more islands further down the line, that are also a bit bigger. That way you feel rewarded when you make it that far. Also it would look nicer if the 'ground floor' has a bit more interesting terrain on it, doesn't have to be much but right now it's kinda bland.
Thanks a lot for a great challenge!
yea, I also updated the mod so there is a little more space on the 2nd overhang
I tested the map for Iron Teeth for the first time and noticed that they dont stand a chance due to their only available power generation being so large (kinda forgot they dont have the small power wheel)
on the new version the 2nd overhang is large enough to allow even the Iron teeth to build both power and plank production
I did download the ladder mod to try and get to ground level to build down there but couldnt keep up with wood production to get them all built before running out of food
- I kept my population low for a long time, your starting Island can comfortably feed 15 beavers
- cut down the oak trees and replace them with carrots and a farmhouse as fast as you can
(I mostly ignored housing until I finally researched stairs and platforms as houses require space you need for food)
- try to utilize the infertile overhangs as much as possible so you save the fertile ground for food
(for instance I build my first science building on one overhang and my first power and plank production on the other)
- the oaks will give you so much wood, you will not need a wood production for a while, so go all into food until you can build over to the 2nd island half
(and do not overdo your wood farm as you need fertile ground for food, for me the 2nd island half became the wood farm + factories)
this worked for me though let me know if you find the map too difficult, I could also add some more starting terrain to ease people in
