.... since its not a vehicle does that mean I can ragdoll people by smacking em with a crowbar or baseball bat while riding? :D :D :D :D I am so gonna make this a hazing ritual to see who's tough enough to join ma gang. if its possible.

@SBlack It would be hard to do, the vehicles are on a completely different system entirely than the kick scooter. The kick scooter is basically just a weapon that you hold and it activates custom animations to make it look like you are riding it.
I would basically have to make a completely new movement system to achieve that

Would it be possible to make the input directions relative to the way the character is facing, rather than absolute to the world. In the car you don't have to press Down to go south either. You press forward if the car is pointed south

@Casey snake Yes I will add this, forgot I never put it in for this one but I have it for my skateboard, so it will be easy.
I'll add some sound to this one as well, and an optional setting to take random leg damage when jumping on/off since it seems a lot of people want their ankles and shins smashed by it lol

@spaspants Did you scroll down the mod list? Since I put [B42] in front of the name of the mod it's not showing in the alphabetical order you might expect.

It could also be that you're on version b41, and this mod is for b42 only.

Please check these things, and if it's still not working then let me know and I'll take another look

Small patch coming soon that fixes the context menu issues, so it will only show when you actually right click on a scooter. Also some code optimizations that should have slight performance increase and make it less likely to throw errors in the future or while using any of my other mods

for some reason I got the option to fold the scooter when the context menu for turning the gym mat into a placable object. when selected it gave me a free scooter in my inventory, i got 4 scooters from doing the same thing before i got bored, seems like an infinite scooter bug. sorry for no pictures or videos.

@tiny chiller Yes attaching them to hiking/military packs are definitely happening!

It could very well be a bug making that option keep appearing on non-scooter items, I'll look into it

I'd love to see both this and the skateboard be able to be attached to the bottom of hiking packs - it seems like a good place to put them idk. Also, when there's a scooter in your inventory or within reach, every interaction prompt includes the option to fold the scooter; not sure if it's a mod conflict (I am also running a mod to remove the debug text, could be that) or if it's a bug, or intentional, but it did get in the way quite a bit while trying to loot or clean things.

@Avery I still need to add sound to this one, I just couldn't find a good one to download. So right now it makes no sound you can hear, but for the zombies it's the same as walking or running (if you hold shift).

The skateboard has a custom sound and to the zombies it's about twice as loud as running, so it's pretty loud but not as bad as a car

Small patch coming today, this has been neglected a bit while I was working on the skateboard, but I'll make it so you can equip the folded up scooter as a weapon/attach it to your back, as well as make an option to fold and pick up in one click, and make it so you can unfold and place in the world in one click. Just some QOL stuff.

@raskumar2183 Yes exactly you are correct, if you add the mod to an existing save you can still find it if you go to a place you haven't been to yet :)

@Fylas Haha in the current implementation, no it's not possible, I haven't made any way to fall off yet, but I will! But I'm not sure how well it will work in multiplayer tbh, I haven't tested it in b41 at all.

By the time b42 multiplayer comes out I will make sure it works :)

The scooter has now been updated! It uses the same movement system as the skateboard, so it will be much smoother now.

There is now also an option called "Immersive Mode" which is enabled by default. With this option enabled you will go much slower on rough surfaces like dirt/grass/gravel/sand.

It is now also affected by injuries, so if you have a broken leg/foot then you can't move at all. If you have an injured leg/foot but not broken, then you can still ride, but you will go slower depending on how much damage you've taken.

Note that if you load a save while riding a scooter, you have to hop off and back on for it to go full speed. I will fix this, just need to find a performance friendly solution.

@Kenpachi the kick scooter gives you more movement speed at no extra stamina cost. So for example if normal walking speed is 1, then with the kick scooter it becomes 1.5, and since walking takes no stamina you can go around at 1.5 extra speed at no stamina cost.
If you hold shift, it will take the same amount of stamina as running, but you're faster than the normal running.

@Comrade Khleb thank you, I'm glad you like it! There will be downsides added with the new system, hunger/encumbrance/injury will affect movement speed, and I'm going to work on lowering movement speed on rough surfaces like sand/gravel/dirt/grass.
I'll use that other animation for sure, good suggestion! it's an easy fix

@Barret That should hopefully be fixed when I update to the new system, which I'll do tomorrow, because it will use the same injury modifiers as vanilla for the animations. So if you're hurt you won't be able to go as fast.

I'm very excited to get it out, you'll notice a big difference in how smooth it feels, and you'll be able to hop on/off scooters and skateboards while moving.

Dunno if it's been mentioned already but with a leg broken you can still use the scooter.
Just started a new game, forgot I was obese and jumped of a first floor lol

One small note is that when unfolding and folding the scooter, i think the animation where your character crouch down and fiddling around on the floor(the animation where you picking up stuff) would fit more rather than the animation being used right now where the character is standing up.

This is exactly what project zomboid needed, some low speed method of transport that requires no gas. I'd like to see some downsides like high exertation after sometimes riding it when you are over encumbered and maybe a random chance of falling... Overall great mod and fit just right into the apocalyptic world of zomboid, can't wait for more form of transport.
