Check out MiSTO II with 3 experiments on board - requires additional research in Survivability (15 science points).

MiSTO III with ~ 650 m/s left in LKO - requires additional Adv. Rocketry (243 total science) and Runway level 2.

Thanks Slayer! I think the trick to the good performance of this design was that I did not use any circular intakes, just a single engine nacelle to feed two engines. Therefore it has less drag than usual for this tech level.
