Actually, there already exists a fork of this mod - updated for 1.4 - that does not require Dubs Bad Hygiene. It was first published back in April of 2022:

Hope for an update for 1.4 or 1.5 soon-ish?

Can anyone else confirm this still works in 1.4? (Author's comment seems to suggest otherwise.)

There are a bunch of mods that do this without needing dubs bad hygiene, so maybe use one of those?

Granted, it could be nice as a configurable (defaults to on) feature, so if something in dubs bygone breaks, this mod can work

Uh, the whol point of this mod was to use dubs bad hygiene. So I don’t think that’s in the works (:

this mod works in 1.4 (aparently). Just @OptimusPrimordial has updated most of his mods to 1.4, but he wants to update them only when he has gotten all of his mods updated (both annoying and nice imo).

I don't get why he wouldn't "update" mods like this, where all he needs to do is update a tag and change one value, but that's just me. Perhaps part of it is he also added new features when changing that tag?

I am, however, willing to wait (acting patiently (not constantly commenting), but not patiently inside my mind), as due to what his quality normally is, I bet it will be worth it!

Really cool mod, i love that it gives bonuses to research instead of automatically researching for you. The description is charming.

Yep, not uploading anything until my growverhaul wall update is done and I come back to play the game, that's when everything will be updated. I could upload updates right now but I don't want to deal with bug reports for a game I'm not playing.

When all my mods are updated I'lll release the 1.4 versions. Only helixien additions and alternative power solutions remain. The gas mod has been the big stumbling block since helixien gas got split off into its own mod with 1.4

Yeah it'll happen. All effort is going towards a massively bloated race mod which has been worked on for nearly a year now. Once that's ready to drop, I'll update the old stuff.

Just think of it as if the computers produce so much heat that the water is needed to keep the temps true manageable. Basically, it gets so hot the water prevents it from spontaneously combusting, but it still makes heat

Of course, another option would be for @OptimusPrimordial to make it produce much less heat, so there is barley any produced, just enough for the code to work.

Same as normal with air conditioners. I had to make a game balance decision, either they only cost water to run or they cost water and put out a lot of heat. Seeing as their research bonuses are so large I chose the latter.
If you'd prefer they not do that go into the buildings.xml and delete:

and

this will make those two only cost water to run and not heat up their surroundings.

@CTH2004 I love those ideas. Perhaps the Antikythera Mechanism could be some sort of high-work craftable. Its expensive and time consuming to make, but it sells for a TON, especially to VFE: Classical factions if those are installed.

You know what would be nice? A reason to keep my data center even after I research everything. Perhaps let allies use it, kinda a "google", that factions will send silver, the lore being that they are outsourcing their research? Something else?
Otherwise, you just deconstruct it when it's done.

Also, I understand not including the abucus, but could you include a basic anolog computer, like the Antikythera mechanism [en.wikipedia.org]. Something basic, basicly. Sure the Antikythera mechanism wasn't for research, but Creative Liscense. if not that, just something anolog. It could also have enough gears taht it needs water, but it can't connect to pipes, so they must use tubs!

300% can be overkill, it can also be necessary. A good research bonus depends entirely on how many mods you have installed since there's no way to scale bonuses by how many research points a player actually has ahead of them. That aside what number do you think is fitting?

so I love the mod 2 things 1 a 300% research speed is overkill for the Difference Engine and quantum computer. this is my opinion.2 I think the abacus would be cool to add in not like a linkable but a tool that gives so much research speed since it was handheld and wide use.

It probably could, but it won't be me doing it. At the same time I released this mod I also posted perfect mechanoid aim which upgrades the targeting computer from that mod to give perfect aim for all linked turrets and gives all advanced mechanoids from VE mechanoids and Alpha Animals aimbot. That mod got 70 subscribers this one got over 2200. This community can't handle realistic machine targeting.

So, just an idea, could you make it so you can 'connect' these to mortars and other mod-based indirect artillery? Logically a lot of these things could be used to better determine accuracy of indirect fire.

Great mod! I love that it includes water cooling! This combined with GliterNet is like a researchers wet dream :)
