I really tried to like this mod but quickly got tired of all my troops being cursed and diseased, also playing against kobolds quickly turns into an apocalypse.

Go to your mods folder. Open the mod file with a text editor. Search for beginclasses. Delete text below beginclasses. Save and quit.

The new AI class is an issue as you can't have a game with random AI filled by the game. OR you take the chance to have this one picked and so I guess you are doomed to lose against it.

Glad you appreciate the mechanics. The developers describe the game as rogue-like which means random world generation, fighting against hordes of stronger monsters, permanent (and horrible) death. Events therefore must put the player in a hostile, fluid and unpredictable world. But they must also be well thought-out, balanced and consistent to create a suspension-of-disbelief effect. Event modding is an exercise in world-building, and that is why it takes so long.

I love mods like those, just a slight twist you forget about and then your like ohoh, my actions have consequnces.

The spriting of HoMM 2 was beautiful! I would never insult it so!

Not ugly. They were super powerful! Every unit they killed was turned into another ghost. So, you find a stack of weak units - peasants for example - and wait a few in-game weeks until their population grew huge. then murder them all! After that you could easily snowball into thousands of ghosts.

By using the word busted I assume you mean ugly. Yes it is an HoMM 2 sprite. You can find this and other old-time pixel art at spriter's resource. Pixel art is an acquired taste off course. For a mini-tutorial on how to use it see my post on modding resource compendium thread. Cheers.

Is that the ghost sprite from HoMM 2? They used to be so busted.
