Updated to 1.4, but I won't be maintaining this mod beyond that. Be wary that using this mod may therefore make it impossible to bring your saves into 1.5.

I would discipline myself with this if i wasn't unsure of what mod incompatibilities will pop up sooner or later... but i'll sub and keep it in mind.

Nevermind, it's no longer fixed now. I seem to be getting large, long lasting lag spikes from this mod at seemingly random points in time.

Nevermind, for whatever reason it's fixed now, and "PermadeathEnforcementSuite.SaveEncryptor+Pa" is no longer the main cause of lag reported.

Also, this mod is causing massive lag. I'm using dubs performance analyzer and "PermadeathEnforcementSuite.SaveEncryptor+Pa" (it gets cut off) is causing a lot of lag. Any fixes?

For some reason the effects of this mod still kick in when not using permadeath mode. Could you change this?

This truly makes the game play as it was intended.

To anyone considering it: I have a hefty modlist. No complications so far.
Also, the autosaves added by this mod do not provide an "autosaving" prompt. But don't worry, it's working.

But then I remember the time my lvl 20 system-wide construction prodigy forgot to remove the roof before the walls and made his head explode...

I mean, I guess that's drama too, but it makes rimworld more of the 'slapstick comedy' genre

New update just dropped.

* PES now no longer saves on (most) positive and neutral events by default, to reduce having to deal with lag. This behavior can be re-enabled in mod options.
* You can now choose to enable access to storyteller options in mod settings.
* For those with slow drives, you can now revert to just a single autosave in mod settings.

Note that the latter two options require a new save to use once enabled. You also won't be able to load saves with different options from what you currently have set.

It extends vanilla's "disable dev mode" option. If you google "Rimworld re-enable dev mode" it should tel you how to get it back.

Does this mod permanently disable dev mode forever? I stopped using it because of the insane letter lag, and I'm having a problem in my current save (not using this mod anymore), but there is literally no option to turn on dev mode. At all.

This mod is great. Perhaps it can have a cooldown of 1 sec between letters to avoid triple saving the two files, like in some cases where you get 3 letters simultaneously (e.g. getting a royal title) or getting rid of the .old save file in the first place to avoid screen freezes. Even on an SSD it takes its time. Anyway cool mod!

Try Prepare Moderately as an alternative, it's what I've been doing. You just set up some filters and it crunches a few thousand rolls until it pulls a pawn that meets said filters. I'm a bit busy with Ideology to be patching Character Editor :p

Would it be possible for you to create a patch for something like Character Editor that locks away it's in-game uses? It doesn't look like Prepare Carefully is going to be updated any time soon and I don't trust myself not to abuse Character Editor later in the game.

@bll Yes, pretty much. I tend to play on higher difficulties and would get frustrated at bad event combos to the point where I would force quit; I made this to stop that.

@Goldenrobo Sorry, I don't think so... I run an SSD on my rig and it only takes a second or two to autosave, so I may have misjudged the impact of the save times on HDD machines.

Anyone know how to remove this mod from an existing save? I like it but the saving feature causes alot of lag whenever an event fires so when I got a ton of consecutive events i.e roof collapse it freezes my game.

Just so you know, that won't work so long as you have the mod installed. Even if you remove the DevModeDisabled file, the mod will automatically re-create it on game start.

you can re-enable dez mode by altering the games fles, but you will need to look up how to do it
