Just got TF2, saw your USA map and wanted to give it a go. It says "missing DLC" when I try to load map.

Does anyone know how to get this in very hard mode?
SoopahMan  [author] Feb 28, 2024 @ 4:39am
Steam Workshop is pretty broken so after a few months I lose the ability to update files. So I don't really recall what was in the final release before updating broke on this one, but, my bet is Open Flora is the missing mod, it's a part of a lot of custom maps to free up the list of trees and crops you can place. Sorry Steam Workshop is so broken! I understand why some games are moving away from it.

@nate18492, I got the same problem too and I don't know how to fix it. Please help.
nate18492 Jan 6, 2024 @ 2:25pm
On my game it keeps saying "mod not installed" anyone know how to fix that
Isaiah53six Sep 13, 2023 @ 6:42pm
fyi, probably fixed by now but it's spelled Pittsburgh PA not Pittsburg

I would be happy to create a variant with towns connected, but, I'm pretty sure you mean one where the game cares that they're connected and gives you a warning when they're not.

For that to happen the game would need to build the roads - somehow. I am not sure how. There is a feature in the game to ask for that, but, it fails to connect the towns. And, it might make more sense to make the roads manually to match either the historical 1850 roads, or, the modern interstates. Either way, I'd then need to somehow ask the game to treat them as those special roads that must remain to avoid a warning. Anyone know how to do that?

Any chance you could create a variant with the towns connected?
SoopahMan  [author] Jul 29, 2023 @ 4:44pm
Yeah some Mods will mix that up for you without an Editor; I split it that way in the default setup to kind of force you to move freight the way freight really moves in the US; but, the US does that mostly because of western ports and China, and building out a fake China in the Pacific seemed a little over the top.

I figured it out. I forgot that you needed to create a new save from the editor. Love the map. The only thing that I did was changed some of the towns needs as most of them want food and tools.

Just ran the map anew, it definitely still has money constraints. You've got a mod or Settings issue, @Donnti

That's an interesting problem @Donnti, I haven't played my own map on the latest "Deluxe Edition" release, but I'm not aware of anyone else having an infinite money problem using the map (and I haven't in my several past playthrus). You might have a setting or Mod set that's doing more than you expected?
Donnti Jul 28, 2023 @ 3:26pm
Question, How can I change the difficulty to medium? I have gone through the adv. settings but it doesn't apply. I would love to play this map but the infinite money sucks. I have tried the version without the trees also but that has the infinite money also

I unfortunately can't update this map due to a Steam bug - something happens after about a month anytime I post a map on Steam - the link between my dev files and the Workshop published work seems to break, and the only way to publish an update is to post something new entirely.

You can't generate roads between cities without it crashing.. It might be a great map if they ever updated it.

Is this length/width-scale real???
Trym May 30, 2022 @ 12:36pm
if you want to change the date you load the map into the map editor... Change the date (bottom right corner) and save it with a new name. (F.ex USA 1990)
philliesphan333 Apr 24, 2021 @ 7:30pm
im going to guess that you cant pick anything other than an 1850 start date? Would be nice to start in the 90's.

Fair point, I haven't played out industry enough in this map. There are some other great suggestions in the comments of past versions I need to look longer at as well. I have a version I've been working on that makes some industry tweaks, but, it's not fully up to snuff yet.
Speedwagon Apr 4, 2021 @ 3:12pm
@Snake You can enter the saved game with sandbox mode turned on, then you can change the town's demand
Snake Mar 28, 2021 @ 6:21pm
I really like the map but noticed that almost every city has the same cargo demands of food and machines. Is there any way to change that? Some of the industry never gets used.
winston846079 Feb 25, 2021 @ 10:42pm
No trains? Or am I being too dense to find the train option?
Johnny Feb 21, 2021 @ 5:54am
Yes! I've always wanted to play on a map of States, which is in the scale of yours. Thanks buddy! :steamhappy:

This is the production mod I use:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1970151023
It allows setting the output of each industry building separately, in addition to providing for crazy high output levels if you want them.

I'm still not sure how to add painted rivers, so a number of above-sea-level rivers are still poorly represented on this map.

I added Portland back in, instead of Newport. It was just too conspicuously missing, and it's a major stop on several major travel corridors, like Amtrak's Coast Starlight, the 5 (I-5), airlines etc.

I shrunk a number of cities, because the game engine in the late-game when everything's hooked up causes them to grow a bit out of control. My goal is to have their density and sprawl represent their metropolis' sprawl in real life, even if the cities themselves can't match the real cities too well (because 170:1 makes NY greatly exceed Manhattan, for example).

If anyone can suggest a mod that lets certain industries allow growth to much higher capacities let me know - it doesn't make sense in terms of playability to have multiple food plants in a single region - I rather one bulky food plant that represents an entire industry.
