So glad I randomly came across this game at GenCon. It was the last day of the con and I was beat but their little steamer baskets and turntable caught my eye. The folks at the booth were so personable and excited so their energy totally drew me in. I decided to try it out on Tabletop Simulator and it's so much fun. I played a couple solo games and then quickly bribed everyone I knew into playing online with me. It's quick to pick up, fast to play and just really fun with your family or a group of friends. It would even serve as a great icebreaker because it's fast paced and so easy to learn. It leaves you wanting another round every time (just like chowing down on some real dim sum). I can't wait to get the physical copy of the game but I love playing a quick game online with friends that are out of town. Highly recommend.

Loved the game, backed it right away when it went live on Kickstarter! Congratulations on the amazing turnout so far. I can't wait to receive the real game!
Was introducing it to some friends last night and we noticed that if we rewind time due to a mistake, the turnable buttons break and we could not continue the game. Just wanted to point out that bug, otherwise, it works amazingly!

Thank you so much for your continuous support! We can't wait to serve you the real feast! (well...physical version wise, not the actual edible food) haha

Hi Kat!!! The Feast Zones between the players are noted in the Feast Zone indicator ring. Each player will have access to 2 steamers on the Turntable. For further description, the rulebook talks about the Feast Zone indicator ring in depth! Thank you so much for taking the time to play our game!

Also my friends all get hungry playing this game, good job lol.

Can I ask how do you play with 5-players, how are we supposed to split the "feast zones" for 5-players?

Hello my food enthusiasts! After some wonderful feedback from players like yourself (Google Form) and from Cardboard Edison, we have made some changes to the Fortune and Fate cards to help solidify and improve game experience!

Please let us know what you think!

Had the pleasure of playing with Marie and Pauline, designers, and it was a blast. This game is a wonderful experience and a wholesome introduction to a culture I don't know a lot about. Can't wait for it to go on KS in October 2021. :)

Thank you for everyone's patience! The kitchen is up and running with upgraded features including:

1) Improved writing of text for Rulebook, Fortune cards and Fate Cards
2) End game scoring change: -1 Hearty Point for every *2* Food tokens (previously was -1 Hearty Point for *every* Food token)
3) Tablets with feedback form that will appear near the end of the game. We want to hear from you! --> https://forms.gle/BucXixHQ7iSJ13Vy6 <--

We made a few updates with rulebook and cards, however, with today's TTS newest update, it broke Steam Up's kitchen and we are unable to serve you at this time! Sorry for any inconvenience, we will get it fixed as soon as possible! Thank you for your patience!

Hey! I've seen you updated the mod. Nice! What's new? From what I could tell, the turntable rotates sooooo smooth now.

That setup is really quite something, very nicely done! Now to play the game...

Thank you H2G for playing the game and sharing your thoughts! I'm not too sure what you meant by bounciness. If you don't mind, are you able to show me a clip? Ive been trying to mishandle the steamers by stacking up and down and I haven't come across the steamer being bounched off. Sorry for any inconvenience that this affected your game play. Need not to worry too much as the physical copy won't have this issue!

In regards to the Feast Zone, the rule is: "...If any part of the Steamer is within your Feast Zone, you may purchase it" In your case, was any part of the steamer touching the divided line within your Feast Zone? If yes, then you may purchase it. There are times Steamers are on 2 players Feast Zone so both players can purchase it.

H2G Feb 22, 2021 @ 1:08am
I've found the issue of "bounciness". Whenever I tried to stack the steamer, usually by fate card or fortune cards that have the effect of arranging steamers, the steamers are too bouncy that the topmost steamer bounced off the stack with 4 layers.

Also you didn't explain the Feast Zone in rulebook well enough, so it's up to me to do guesswork. What happens when the stacked steamer is directly on the divided line? Then what?
hotbananagame Feb 20, 2021 @ 6:36pm
that's a really good answer! haha
Shep Feb 19, 2021 @ 11:40am
Is "can't wait for October when you'll launch on KS" a good answer? :-)

To those who played our game on TTS, what did you think of Steam Up? whether you hate it or love it, please let us know!
hotbananagame Feb 17, 2021 @ 8:07pm
@Ferrix Thank you for taking the time to play the game! I would love to hear more about your experience!

As for your question, yes, you can hold unlimited Fortune Cards but it is worth only 1 point for every 2 FC at the end of the game. Tokens are used to purchase steamers which gives you much more points. If you are attempting to purchase a steamer faster than your opponent then you will need to gain tokens much quicker.
hotbananagame Feb 17, 2021 @ 8:03pm
@Ahh... Fresh meat! Thank you!

@Sora Thank you! How was your experience with the game?
Ferrix Feb 17, 2021 @ 6:31am
This is really cute. But.. not sure why you would ever discard 2 fortune cards for a token, since you can hold unlimited cards and they're worth points at the end of the game.

Beautiful script :D

Such a great game! Design, theme, gameplay: I really enjoyed it. You can't go wrong with dim sum!
