After 3 years I was going through single player chambers, and saw this one, I completed it again but never realized the beauty and thought that went Into this. Amazing work.

it's not coding, it's just a branch of mapping that is still pretty much regular mapping, but bending it a bit to accomodate some cool stuff. for example, with this, I used invisible rotating doors to move the portals around, a small object to track the player's view, and made some lasers come from that point. Hammer allows for some awesome stuff to be done, even without coding.

Neat, and worked just fine. Almost makes me want to own one of those fancy controllers.

(It's possible to jump from that cube to the far ledge, even though the fence is in the way. Really annoying and error-prone, so I wouldn't worry about it, but it's possible.)

Part of the issue is when you click the secondary fire quickly, because that causes portal and rotation brushes to become interparented, which crashes the game. Mostly everything else is based around this as well. It can't be fixed

If you know the reason why it crashes, could you please tell us? Maybe someone else can come up with a soluiton (or at least a way to avoid it crashing).

The entire thing is pretty complicated. There's a rotating entity mutually parented back and forth with a prop_portal after second fire, using a game_ui. The prop_portal has 4 lasers and 4 particle systems, which creates the portalgun to portal effect. The main function is described there, there's more to it but that's the base of it.

This is an amazing invention? Can you please tell me either here in the comments or in a PM how you created this? If wish to modify the portal gun my own way and seeing what you have done my help me innovate how to make the portal gun do some other neat tricks.
