You will have to explain this...
- Did you play any other custom maps before?
- Do you get any errors or something?

This Gelocity maps are pretty large (map and file size) so it takes some time to download them. If you try to play it before it's downloaded or if the download didn't work properly, then you can't play. Sometimes restarting Steam helps. If this doesn't fix the problem, try to unsubscribe and then subscribe again to the map (Both of you need to subscribe to the map).

You don't need addons. If the map doesn't load, restarting Portal2 or Steam helps in most cases.

These are some of the best user created Portal 2 levels avaliable in the workshop and possibly the most creative use of the Portal 2 toolset. I'm surprised Valve did not give you a job after these.
