A painted Norman-ish style face mask helmet, with an almost Viking sceptical thing going on. The helmet is based on an illustration of a Christian mercenary from the mid-12th century, whom would have been hired and fighting in Spain. The helmet is made of tempered steel painted over with the mason colours, presumably by the owner, red and black the mason heraldry of the hawk is painted into one side too. There are many scratches where the paint has been worn away when the helmet has been dropped, kicked, stabbed and battered. The helmet is lined with thick quilted fabric to protect the head from shock, the sections of quilting are arranged in a striped pattern, also mason colours. Under the quilting is a sweaty linen skullcap attached to the interior of the helmet. The wearer ties the ends of the skullcap around their chin to secure the helmet to the head. The perfect helmet for the Mason supporter!
