East Coast Range, No Industry

คำอธิบาย
A map I've been working on for almost two months, finally finished!

A megalomaniac map of the East Coast as far South as Atlanta, and as far North as Green Bay, and as far East as Bangor. So experimental sizes does need to be enabled.

This edition is the No Industry version. As per requirememnt by game, there are two meat packing plants but other than that should have no industry.

This map is quite hilly, however there is no need (in this edition) for the NoInitial roads mod. I personally want to thank Merk for his Map Export mod as that sped up the process for this map 10 fold. Here is his link: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1445899052

Cities included:
Chicago, IL
New York City, NY
Atlanta, GA
Washington, D.C.
Sudbury, CAN

you have to set experimental map sizes to true in your settings

It's failing to load for me. Gets to "Generating Terrain" and at about 6% it comes back with "Game initialization failed. Heightmap too large. Number of pixels must not exceed 16M.

I've already disabled every other mod.

Yes, you can use the mod "streams" that's like a brush in game. It's an awesome mod honestly and I highly recommend it for this map along with "more vegetation" mod. It can certainly make your maps look beautiful

While all navigable rivers need to be at "sea" level, you can use a mod that lets you paint rivers at pretty much any level if you just want them for asthetic purposes. IIRC it can handle everything except a waterfall type elevation change.

Yeah, the water level is too low and doesn't look real good in game. Great map otherwise though and this is the region I like to play. I think the grayscale image needs to be brightened and then go back in and repaint the water areas black (or use fill in tool). Then change water range to like 70 or something. I loaded the image up in gimp and messed around and tested in game. Makes it better imo. Too busy to go thru and re-do the whole map though. Something for people to consider if they want deeper water. As said however, all water is same height so a problem in higher elevation areas as river banks could be cliffs.

So the water will always be at 1 constant level that you set. This means that the ocean and all of the rivers have to be the same height. That is the issue that map creators find when creating maps of hilly regions with rivers. I had this problem creating my map of the Philadelphia area where the Deleware Water Gap had to be at the same height as the Atlantic. It was actually the driving reason for why I abandoned the project. I personally didn't want all of my rivers and streams to be cliffs

I played a little with the lua file of the map by modifying the range values. I managed to raise the water level or lower the ground level (depending on how we see it). At the same time, several cities are now under water.

I've never created a map for transport fever, but how I see it I would bring up a little more the gray level of the ground at the water edges to create a bigger cliff / slope and then play with the range number to find the right water level. Something like that.

So to my understanding, the water is only one level. The game reads ona heightmap, that straight black is water and anything above that color code is land at different elevations. If anyone has more info feel free to chime in.

Can you make the water a little deeper, it does not look pretty
