FX:Galaxy is a race overhaul/content expansion mod for players who like a challenge. The 8 main races you encountered in Homeworld 1 & 2 have been turned into fully playable factions, each with their own new units, abilities, and playing styles. New SP scenarios, unique Challenge Modes and a greatly reworked, almost human-like AI will test the limits of your skills, while a myriad of new features, sounds and graphical effects enhance Homeworld to the next level. Explore, challenge. and conquer!

FX:Galaxy v1.39 - Last Stand
The FXmod project is an ongoing effort that aims to recreate that raw excitement vibe from the original 1999 title in the remaster - and has received acclaim from Gearbox Software while doing so. We innovate and expand upon the base game while paying close attention to Homeworld's lore, and hope to bring many new, exciting things to the table - such as our upcoming Homeworld: RPG Mode.

Existing Features
  • 8 Playable Races: All eight races from HW1 & HW2 are available as fully playable factions. Continue your adventure as one of the overhauled vanilla factions, or come see how we brought player favorites like the Progenitors, Kadeshi, Turanic Raiders and Bentusi to life.
  • More Strategy, More Challenges: All factions come with their own unique units, abilities and playing styles, bringing a vast amount of new strategical options to the table. Unit abilities play a bigger role, and with a vastly improved AI the galaxy is more dangerous a place than ever before. Will you stand victorious?
  • New Content: Continue exploring the Homeworld universe in 5 new Single-Player Missions, hone your skills via 2 unique Challenge Modes (Skirmish/Survival), or spice up the new 8-faction experience even further with new Gameplay Modes & 10+ new Maps.
  • New Features: Co-operate with (or assume command over) AI players with our AI Diplomacy System, collect brand new Achievements, customize your in-game BGM, name your ships - and much more. 15+ years of innovation in HW modding awaits you.
  • 40+ New (HD) Units: Some of these are based off original Homeworld concept art, others were designed by us from scratch. Summon the newly discovered Progenitor Frigates or Kadeshi Nagual from the voids of space, unleash new gamechangers such as the Taiidan Battleship and Vaygr Defense Cruiser, or check out our take on old favorites - like a re-textured version of the Turanic Outpost from HW:Cataclysm!   • Enhanced Graphics & FX: New fleet command voices, animations (e.g. Turanic smoke, Progenitor energy), weapon fx (e.g. Taiidan Ion Beams, Kadeshi energy weapons), subsystem models, unit blueprints, sound effects, and more for prying eyes (and ears!) to discover.
  • Vanilla Tweaks: Featuring improvements from both the 2.3 Player Patch and our own tweaks, you will find that e.g. HGN Bombers can now rotate their turrets to attack from any angle as originally intended. Unused units like the Gunships and Gun Platforms have been merged or removed, and Research & Production trees have been streamlined across the board. Balance adjustments are ever ongoing, and are shaped by player feedback.
  • New Player Aid: With over 1GB of new content things may seem overwhelming at first, but rest assured - we're not just throwing you in unprepared. Two new Tutorial Missions will help you on your way, and our 33-stage Challenge Mode "The Shimmering Path" will allow you to hone your skills as you go. We've left many more tips throughout the mod, and you'll find even more on our Discord!

Installation
  1. Subscribe to the mod via big green button above (Steam restart may be needed).
  2. Once the "workshop content" for HWRM has downloaded, launch Homeworld Remastered Collection and click the [MODS] button at the bottom right of the launcher window.
  3. Select [EN]FX:Galaxy v1.3.9 - Last Stand in the left list and click [SELECT]. The mod should now appear under "Selected Mods" in right window.
  4. Launch and enjoy.

Troubleshooting
❗ To prevent some potential issues, we recommend creating a new game profile for the FXmod.
- FX:Galaxy requires your game language to be set to ENGLISH.
- Your Homeworld:Remastered version should be v2.0 or higher.
- FX:Galaxy is not compatible with other Homeworld mods (exceptions: Map and Badge/Emblem packs) and should be the only mod active.

If issues persist it may help to reinstall the mod:
1. Unsubscribe from the mod.
2. Close (exit) the Steam client, and keep it closed.
3. Delete the "423694988" folder in both of these two locations:
*\steamapps\common\Homeworld\HomeworldRM\DataWorkshopMODs\76561198034399157\423694988 *\steamapps\workshop\content\244160\423694988
4. Re-subscribe to the mod.
5. Launch Steam, and launch Homeworld Remastered once without any mods.
6. You can now launch Homeworld Remastered with the FXmod.

Has anyone else had issues unbinding the camera? I've somehow locked it to a weird angle and the Shift+F Shift+E Shift+X options are not resetting it

the mod works well. the visual are inline with the remastered edition. the added capturable relic is a nice gamplay addition.
but,
the way you upgrade your technology is convoluted. it takes time to understand what you need to do to unlock the next units which is a big design flaw.
it takes so much time to unlock everything one by one (as you cannot unlock the tech you want but need to unlock everything one after the other instead, which is another big design flaw.) that you just spam the carriers untils you get to build frigates. which create a silly carrier warfare early - midgame if you have enough ressources.

@juju: A crash on launch probably means your game language wasn't set to English. After removing the mod re-sub to it on steam, let it download. Launch HW once without mods, and then launch with FX after.

Hello the mod was crashing when launching so i removed the folder like you said but now the mod doesn't appear.. what shall i do ?

bentusi defense too hard, why can't I set it to easier? Too many units at once, I can't do the "rock paper scissors" when the enemy has every counter.
I'm not a chinese/korean starcraft gamer man

AI goes absolutely bonkers spam even though I set it to 'harmless' for testing.
Its got like 20 frigates and 5 capital ships and it's impossible to do anything because it's just spam spam spam

Hi, I am trying to use Option 1 to subscribe to your RPG Mode but already for several days Hw_L is not online. Anyone else I can connect to to enable the steam page to download the mod? Thanks

+Onkel Benz: Hi - happy to hear you like it. Desyncs are an issue with HWRM sadly, especially on larger mods they started happening a lot more after the 2.0 patch. There is no easy way to fix it, but here is a copypaste of some things that may help from our discord:

-Have the person with the most stable/best internet connection host the room. Do a speedtest with your friends to find out who this is.
-Connect an Ethernet cable instead of using WiFi.
-Disable the [Tactical Report] option in Multiplayer.
-Lower your graphics settings, and limit the clutter on the screen. Examples:
*Stick to the [DEFAULT] unit cap, Battle Scars set to [OFF].
*Lower your texture quality to "6"/size limit to 4096 (or lower) in Options.
*Stick to 2v2 or smaller matches where possible.
*Use a smaller variety of races when you are with more people (instead of everyone using a different race).
*Play FX Competitive Deathmatch instead of normal FX Deathmatch.
