Tomatekh's Historical Religions

Descriere
This mod adds additional historical (pre-modern and indigenous) religions to the base game. Leaders previously lacking a religious preference (Aztec, Greece, etc.) are updated to prefer an appropriate historical religion. Several additional generic icons are also included and the Catholic and Eastern Orthodox symbols have been updated.

The mod is fully updated to work with Gathering Storm, Rise and Fall, New Frontier and/or any other combination of DLC

Note:
- It is recommended to disable this mod before using any scenarios which might implement their own religions.
- If using the mod in multiplayer, all players need to have identical settings in the configuration table.

Included Religions:
For a list of the included religions and leader preferences please see the mod's civfanatics page.

Configuration File:
The mod includes configuration options in the "HR_Religions_Config.sql" file which may be used to switch between the Lite and Complete versions of the mod, enable / disable individual religions, randomize leader preferences, change the custom icons, and more.

On a PC the default Steam mod folder is:
~\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\289070\870850597\

However, these folders my vary based on your individual install settings.

Inside that folder is the config file “HR_Religions_Config.sql” which you can open with notebook or similar program. The file has instructions when you open, but you largely just change 0s to 1s or vice versa down the left of the file to enable/disable different loading options and then save the file.

- Lite Mode and Complete Mode:

Historical Religions may be loaded in either a Lite or Complete Mode which can be switched between by using the configuration file

By default, the mod loads in Complete Mode which prompts the mod to load the full list of new religions which can be further customized with the configuration file.

Alternatively, you can use the configuration file to enable Lite Mode which prompts the mod to load with only a minimum of new religions to represent the leaders included within the base game and its DLC.

The configuration file also includes options for

- Unused Religions
- Change Default Names
- Unpreferred Religions as Custom Icons
- Random Preferences
- Alternate Religious Preferences

Adding Mod Support:
For instructions explaining to mod makers how to add support for your custom civilization, please see the mod's civfanatics page.

Hi, Tomatekh.

I know I've been away for a while [I've had a lot going on in my life] but I thought I'd stop by first to ask how you are doing, and also if you have some thoughts as to what set of beliefs and pantheon in Sid Meier's Civilization V would most accurately represent the Viking Forn Siðr religion and the Sami Noaidevuohta religion?

@declanvick Unfortunately, there’s no real easy way to implement a choice. Everything has to be pre-coded which is why the alternative options are limited. If you’re comfortable editing the code all the info is found in the HR_Religions_Set section of the HR_Religions_Data file in the mod (this section is divided by each leader). For the leader, you would have to find every entry of ‘RELIGION_ ‘ and change it to the religion you want. Keep in mind a leader can have anywhere from 1 to like 20 of these entries, so it can get pretty tedious.

Is there a way to change the preferred religion for a specific leader beyond an alt preference? It wouldn't be historically accurate but I'd like to modify some of the leader's Christian preferences so I don't have 4 civs vying for Catholicism or Buddhism in a game. I think I tried before but ended up doing something that wrecked the mod & had to redownload it rip

Hey Author. I just wanted to say thank you for this.
I follow the doctrines of Arius (Arianism)
and there are no Churches or denominations today that really follow that.
So seeing it in one of my favorite games is great
This means a lot to me. Sincerely, thank you

Dear Tomatekh, you can attach a link to my mod with translations into Russian and then more users will be able to enjoy your work.

@PersusjCP
The mod includes a religion that represents various shared beliefs across the plains peoples. That's not to imply there are not significant distinctions, but at a certain point it no longer became feasible for me to add so many religions and I had to prioritize similarities where they existed. I named it after "Wakan Tanka" because I added the religion to the mod long before the Cree were added to the game (and named it in the mod files based on likely additions from past Civ games). However, you can use the mod's config file to change the religion's display name to "Kishe Manitou" instead if you prefer the Algonquian cognate. (Basically, I made the mod gradually over a few years but didn’t have as much time to mod when the expansions released compared to the base game, so there are a few well-intentioned compromises with some of the expansion civs).

@ture
The mod includes Norse religion under the name "Forn Sidr". You can use the mod's config file to change the display name to "Asatru", "Wotanism", or "Heathenism" if you prefer.

Great mod otherwise and a must have!

Why would Poundmaker (Plains Cree) follow Wakan Tanka, which is Lakota? Maybe instead it could be Âtayôhkêwina (mythology/legends in Plains Cree language)

Hey bro, Is there any nordic "Aesir" in this mod?
