A simple game of TF2 has so much going on at once, yet you see so little...

WOW SO LAZY YOU USED SEQUENCES.
Yes, I did. The video is about a game of TF2, it's not about any specific character. Aside from the fact that there wasn't enough time to animate everything, I wanted to give the feeling of an actual game of TF2, not an animated film. The Source Filmmaker started as a tool to record gameplay over itself (see the DOD:s videos) and evolved from there. You don't need custom animation to have a video.

Story behind this video:
Up until a few days ago I wasn't planning on entering the Saxxys (as I already have a Saxxy from last year). I've had this idea for a while thanks to my friend VoxBombarde who assisted me in the creation of the idea, but I didn't really do anything with it. Last week someone (I can't remember who) told me I should use the idea as a Saxxy video, and I thought why the hell not.
Now here it is submitted!

over time this video got pretty boring, next time maybe you should have a story behind the video. (over time, you see what i did there? lol)

I liked the concept. The overlapped scenes backtracking kill sequences from different perspectives does give an in game-replay feel. The repetition of "overtime" becomes really monotonous by the end, and of course the abrupt scene transitions make the video hard to watch. Before the first replay scene, I actually thought that it was a short and was over already. I even thought I had accidentally restarted the video when I heard the second overtime. The next few times I kept wondering if it was over. It wasn't until the Demo scene that the kill chain became evident. The opening with the Scout doesn't start the trend. If the spy had killed him instead of just dying I think it would be easier to follow. And by the end when it comes full circle, seeing the scout spy sequence in the background seems like it would be sufficient. At that point we are already waiting for Pyro to finish the job. I would love to see an update with the finished project.

I actually love everything about this. It exemplifies my favourite thing about tf2, which is that when it comes right down to it, in the last few seconds of a close game, everything matters.

If ONE person slips up, for ONE second, the game will change, and whomever made the mistake, has to know how close they were to winning.

It still amazes me, after playing this game since 2008.

(mostly on xbox, if anybody cares to stalk my profile :spycon:)

This won't win anything. But this my favorite entry, by far.

I just absolutely love the idea. If you ever decide to make it longer, with the perspective of every character, that would be amazing.
