Population Limiter

Descriere
This mod reduces the number of people in the game to increase the performance, especially in the late game with large maps and many people. If the world population exceeds the maximum, the capacity of newly built town buildings will be set to 1. Prevent the chaos on the streets! (like in the pictures)


Usage:

The mod can be used for new games and as well be added to savegames. Since it is not possible to directly access the existing buildings, the population limitation for existing savegames is only indirect:

-While the game is automatically renewing the town buildings, the capacities of new buildings will be adjusted accordingly.
-The world population will gradually decrease.
-The process can be accelerated by manually tearing down large buildings.
-The maximum value of the world population is 10000 by default. You can change the value in "res/scripts/adjustTownBuildingCapacity.lua".


Effects:

-When the number of people has decreased, the performance noticeably increases because the CPU is relieved of computation.
-The annoying monthly updates are also less interruptive.
-Less walking people and cars have to be visualised.
-Due to the lower number of cars, traffic jams can also be avoided.
-Probably fewer people will use lines, so less vehicles will be needed.
-The number or appearance of buildings is not affected, only the capacity.


Hints:

-Don't be surprised that the capacity of buildings under construction is still unchanged, it is set to 1 only after construction. This is because the game crashed otherwise.
-To speed up the transition phase, you can also change the time of an in game day. In "mod.lua" the value can be set to the minimum (1s) by commenting out, so that the monthly updates are more frequent and the new buildings are built faster.
-After the population has decreased, the value can be set to the maximum (8s) so that you are less disturbed by the monthly interruptions.
-The mod can also be used for the opposite, if someone wants to have more people in the game. See note in "res/scripts/adjustTownBuildingCapacity.lua".

Well, of course I am gonna buy TPF2 and see how things have been improved. Maybe some mods won't be necessary anymore.

Thanks! So I have a save where I was over the limit in the mod. Once enabled, the populations seems to still increase, but not as quickly. New/renewed buildings are not being reset to a population of 1...

Hi, just wondering if the population limiter on this means that larger buildings (skyscrapers) will not be built?

If the population is over the limit, new building get capacity 1, that's it. There is no way for mods, to influence where and how many to build.
