Item Recycling

Beskrivelse
The Item Recycling mod adds over 180 new recipes for crafting ingots at smelters. Virtually every metal item in Skyrim can now be melted down into an ingot. This mod is perfect for thieves and blacksmiths alike. Worthless items like goblets and silver platters can now be melted down into silver ingots and sold to vendors. Blacksmiths who need a way of improving their smithing skill but have trouble finding enough ingots can simply melt down any iron they can find and then forge that iron into daggers. This mod gives meaning to alot of the seemingly benign clutter around Skyrim.

Version 1.4 has been released

Skyrim Nexus Version now available.

Please visit my Projected changes for subsequent updates discussion if you want to have a say in the changes in the next update.

IMPORTANT NOTE: As of version 1.2 a new feature has been added that prevents you from melting down an item that you have equipped. This however will not prevent you from melting down weapons equipped in the left hand due to a limitation with the GetEquipped function of the creation kit. All other weapons, armor and shields are protected from meltdown when equipped.

WARNING: Weapons but not shields, held in the left hand are NOT protected from being melted down. Everything else is safe.

IMPORTANT NOTE: As of version 1.1 the smelting menu is no longer massive and only shows items that can be crafted. If you do not have the items necessary to smelt an ingot then the ingot recipe will not be visible. For those of you that don't know this is in response to comments that the menu was to large and took to long to scroll through.

Recipes:

2 Daggers = 1 ingot
1 Sword = 1 ingot
1 Mace = 1 ingot
1 War Axe = 1 ingot
1 Warhammer = 2 ingots
1 Battle Axe = 2 ingots
1 Greatsword = 2 ingots
1 Bow = 2 ingots
45 Arrows = 1 ingot

1 Chest Piece = 2 ingots
1 Gauntlet Set = 1 ingot
1 Boot Set = 1 ingots
1 Shield = 2 ingots
1 helmet = 1 ingots

As stated earlier this mod adds over 180 new smelting recipes, this includes alot more than armor and weapons. Items such as Kettles and Silverware can now be melted down.

Notes:

  • Dragon armor can not be melted down.

  • This mod does not include armor and weapons that are part of the Dragonborn DLC or the Dawngaurd DLC.

  • This mod does include Arrows.

  • I have all of the smelting recipes set to yield slightly less metal than was originally put into the weapon/armor. This is meant to add some challenge for blacksmiths who want to improve their skill. (so they can't repeatedly smelt and reforge daggers)

  • If you find any metal items in Skyrim (other than those listed above) that cannot be melted down then please leave a note in the comments. I probably missed a few.

  • Certain glazed jugs and bowls can be melted down into malachite.

  • Enchanted items can not be melted down.

  • Improved items can be melted down.

Any suggestions, comments, and/or constructive criticism are welcome.

Please give me as much feedback as possible.
I want to make this mod enjoyable for everyone.

I am going to make a second version of this mod that allows for items from the dragonborn DLC to be melted down. It will take quite a while so don't expect it to be released for at least four more days.

Please give me a thumbs up if you like the mod.

I have added a discussion for Complaints, Glitches and Issues.
If you intend on unsubscribing please put your reason in that discussion.

I'm sorry I haven't released the Dragonborn version of this mod yet. I did not expect this mod to become so popular and it is getting a little bit overwhelming. Rest assured, I will release a dragonborn version before 8/10/2013. I would release it sooner but I am in the process of updating and maintaining this mod right now.

For everyone looking for the mod on Nexus: the link here doesn't work because it's using the old url format, here's a working link:
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/38901

Just tested using the Nexus download after unsubscribing here and my launcher and game work fine now after getting the ckm error. Saw recyclable arrows and bow when I quickly went to a forge.

For those new to adding a mod manually: the Nexus mod download is just the esm, the ckm, and a readme file so you literally just drag and drop them into Skyrim's data folder in the Steam folders in the "Programs (x86)" directory, not the my games folder in documents. Then play your game. It's as close to a plug and play mod as you can get without using the Steam Workshop or other mod loading service.

Just like @Zenixx, I'm getting an error on load saying "Failed to extract plugin file from ckm!". Haven't played in a few months, but this seems to be a rather recent issue. The mod itself seems to still function in-game as long as the mod checking process is skipped by hitting "play" right away. On my way to Riften, the game did CTD. Though, that may be one of my 100 something other mods acting up.

Can't load the game, an error with this mod is causing the game loader to throw an error message.
