Hold down shift key when placing the barrier train tracks to get them within 5 meters of a small fast country road. There is no need to lay the track within one pixel of a collision. Double check that you cannot upgrade the small fast country road to a medium city road, so that the computer AI cannot do so as well.

There is a "track ballast" mod available in workshop that provides dummy train tracks that are less expensive compared to real tracks.

If you have a crash, there should be a stdout.txt file in steam/userdata/number/446800/local/crash_dump/stdout.txt. A trace of the crash can be found near the end of that file. If you restart the game the content of that file is re-written, so capture the content right after a crash. Please list out the mods that are active, because they can contribute to game crashes. Avoid mods with global effects if possible.
