The Road Map Post Steam Greenlight

You are a veteran drone tank pilot tasked with defending your city from an interstellar fallout of apocalyptic proportions. Wield an arsenal of 8 unique weapons, 5 super weapons, and strategically upgrade your loadout in an effort to protect humanity from certain extinction.

The year is 2082. Salvation Harbor, a fortified city constructed by the military group M.A.S.T. CORPS, stands at the ready, the RAILGUN Perimeter Defense System locked and loaded. You have been selected to pilot RG1, a high-tech drone tank designed specifically to defend against the uncertainty about to strike. Prepare yourself for intense action, epic boss battles, and strategic combat.


Your tank is armed to the teeth with the latest in high-powered military tech. Ready your trigger finger and take control of four explosive primary weapons including the Main Cannon, Shotgun, Flack Cannon, and the Minigun. You also have four specialized secondary weapons—Rail Cannon, Shotgun, Rockets, and Tesla Cannon—these will require you to become a master at energy consumption management.

Defend your city long enough to power up five unique super weapons and watch as your environment fights back. Trigger specialized turrets to unleash stage-clearing firepower with the push of a button. The longer you survive, the more chances you have to find and strategically utilize defensive pick-ups. Use the Boost ability to quickly maneuver around the track. Or, when all else fails, initiate your shields, take cover, and hold on tight.

As you progress, hone and sharpen your arsenal with a host of upgrades. In-game powerups provide a momentary boost to your tank’s abilities, boss battles unlock lasting tank upgrades, and completing a level grants the opportunity to enhance weapons with mineral points.


Lightning-fast reflexes and razor sharp instinct are a must if you are to outlast the apocalyptic onslaught from beyond the wormhole. From every angle, destructive asteroids pelt your city and smash anything in their path. Comets freeze you in place leaving you vulnerable to attack. Meteors set fire to you and your surroundings and produce a lasting burn. Magnatoids directly target your tank and aim for the kill shot at deadly speeds. If that’s not enough, nuclear satellites of giant proportion rain down in city-shattering fury.

Blasting meteors, asteroids, and comets into a million little pieces is not only fun as hell; it’s rewarding too! Blow up rocks, collect mineral points, and use the spoils on weapon and vehicle upgrades.


What shooter would be complete without epic boss battles? Batten down the hatches and test your mettle against big, bad alien bosses. Each boss introduced at various stages will be unique and offer a new challenge. You must defeat the boss or die trying to advance to the next stage.







A. Because we don’t have a publisher, we don’t have a deadline. Therefore, we want to leave ourselves plenty of time for testing and polishing prior to release.


A. At this time, we’re not willing to set the specifications in stone. We’ve been testing the game on older chips like the Nvidia 560ti 2GB and Intel i5 processors, but we are targeting higher end computers as well. We’ll need to take a pass at optimization once all the 3D art, particle effects, and environmental assets are in the game.


A. We’ll announce this soon. We want to make Railgun affordable, but we also want to continue developing innovative games! The verdict is still out on pricing, so make your voice known!

Thanks for the comments everyone! We're working on an update video, blog post, and we'll be attending some conventions here in the future. So hopefully you can stop by and try out the game!

@FerrousBueller: You'd be surprised how big of a deal it can be just to change how a game is presented. I remember this one space-themed game; the premise was that you were a ship on an orbital "grid" wrapped around a planet, somewhat reminiscent of the orbital layer in Planetary Annihilation (although the game was released long before PA). It was just a basic schmup, but somehow, the 3d-appearance made it a lot more interesting than it would have been if it was just 2d.

The main difference I can think of is that there's wrap-around for multiple planes in that game, which makes the whole experience a lot more fluid and free-form. Railgun seems to be quite similar. There's wrap-around in one plane, and asteroids and other hazards are always above you. The result is that you can change your distance from an obstacle horizontally, but not vertically. I don't really know what this means for the game, but it's interesting at least, and I'm sure it makes more sense once you're playing the game.

It's a basic change in concept, but in practice, it really can make the difference. For a game that has such a simple core concept, making it unique both in gameplay and in player feedback is imperative to keeping an entertaining experience and not boring the player to death.
