I learned the mud dig is useless as slow doesn't really save face in battle, cursed dig is useless because poison doesn't start until after their turn. Pufferfish bomb is completely useless, does not that great of damage for bleed that only lasts 1 turn at 8 to 16 damage which is shrugged off, rake sucks because you waste a turn to waste an enemy turn making the battle take longer. The fireplant isn't all that great, its like the cursed dig with a cooldown, and Jeldummy just wasted a turn to do 35% of your max damage only to protect 1 person.
As for stat leveling, keeping even stats is viable if you just want to get through combat and not worry about min/max-ing. Though I would check your party members before entering dungeons. Some start out with really low health or stamina which can really hinder you in lower floors. But it's also good to give more focus to stats that push your party's natural talents.
