South Wales Railway (IND)

解説
The South Wales railway was proposed in 1844 to build a railway between Fishguard to Gloucester, where it would connect with the Great Western Railway. It worked closely with the GWR, and construction began in 1847.
It was originally intended to run to Fishguard, but because of the Irish Potato Famine, the ports in West Wales recieved much less traffic than normal, so would be less profitable. Instead, the company chose Neyland, near Milford Haven.
The Railway opened between Swansea and Carmarthen in 1852, Haverfordwest in 1854 and Neyland in 1856.
It was immediately leased to the GWR, who then absorbed the company in 1863.
A standard gauge Pembroke and Tenby Railway opened in 1863, then connected to the GWR at Whitland in 1866.
In 1866, the GWR converted the line bewteen Whitland and Carmarthen to dual gauge, where it connected to the standard gauge London and North Western Railway.
Then, in 1897, the GWR absorbed the Pembroke and Tenby Railway.
The line was finally opened to it's original goal at Fishguard in 1909.

This map allows you to re-create the western portion of the South Wales Railway, from Swansea to Pembroke Dock, Milford Haven and Fishguard Harbour, as well as the Heart of Wales line betwwen Llanelli to Llangadog. Any other lines that were closed can also be built.
