How to Install SWBFSpy (Online Patch)
Από William
In this guide I will be showing you how to continue playing multiplayer after the shutdown of Gamespy and GameMaster. In order to do this, you will need to use the executable provided by SWBFGamers. Let's get to it!

Introduction
www.SWBFgamers.com has managed to make their own patched executable that works just like GameMaster (GameSpy as well). Supported and co-designed by the former GameMaster host; Kalle. Which already has a lot of servers, competitive and casual. Keep in mind most of the players are European, making the optimum time to play being later in the day if you live in America or Canada.
SWBFSpy Discord Server
http://discord.me/swbfspy

Make sure you read the rules after joining, but it's a good place to ask people to play with you and, of course, discuss Star Wars.
SWBFSpy Website
SWBFSpy has a dedicated website for stuff ranging from promotion to download links which can be found here[info.swbfspy.com]. On this website, they also include a patched executable for SWBF1 as well.
How to Play in Conjunction With New Multiplayer by GOG
GOG and Disney have released their own fixed master server that disables SWBFSpy functionality for Steam users under normal circumstances, however, it can be fixed using a few file replaces.

Download: : http://www.med iafire.com/file/uz9l5md8lj6et4f/Spy.rar (Note: remove the space in the download link)

Setup: Place executable in your GameData folder the way you normally would and then also replace the shell.lvl located below. Keep in mind by replacing shell.lvl you give up the ability to use the GOG master server, so I suggest keeping both shell.lvl files, and switching them as necessary if you want to continue using both services.

Steam Directory: Windows (C:) > Program Files (x86) > Steam > SteamApps > Common > Star Wars Battlefront II > GameData > data > _LVL_PC
Installation
Download Link: here[info.swbfspy.com]

Installation Instructions: Once downloaded, locate your GameData folder (directories for both Disc and Steam versions are provided below) and rename the downloaded executable to BattlefrontII SWBFSpy, so you can remember which executable to use for all your online purposes. Once that's done, right click on the zip folder and extract it. After that, right click the downloaded executable and click copy. Open up that GameData folder we discussed earlier and right click on any open space and click paste. You should have successfully installed SWBFSpy by SWBFGamers.

Steam Directory: Windows (C:) > Program Files (x86) > Steam > SteamApps > Common > Star Wars Battlefront II > GameData

Disc Directory: Windows (C:) > Program Files (x86) > LucusArts > Star Wars Battlefront II > GameData
Additional Notes
  • For better online experience, go to options > online and enable search all regions to see more servers, and thus, more players
  • Most servers have any potential password required to join in the server name/title, so pay attention
  • Don't run any shortcuts for BattlefrontII that you didn't make specifically for the SWBFSpy executable you downloaded, as to avoid Steam running the wrong executable
  • If you get an error for something similar to "The program can't start because binkw32.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix the problem." then you need to make a shortcut for the executable you downloaded in this guide and run that instead, and you should also double check you installed the file to the right location
  • You can use SWBFSpy in conjunction with GameRanger by keeping your original executable in GameData and having GameRanger use that
  • Only the downloadable executable in this guide is required, means no other mod are needed
  • You can also install SWBFSpy using a hex editor like HxD[download.cnet.com] by opening your original executable and replacing all instances (ctrl r for the menu) of 'gamespy.com' with 'swbfspy.com'
  • If you wish to donate to the SWBFSpy creators, click here[www.nfoservers.com] and note that donations are kept in the NFO servers account and can not be used for anything other than server hosting and that they do not wish to take money from kids who cannot afford it, so please, donate only if you can
  • A video tutorial can be watched here to install SWBFSpy

@Skulled Nachos perhaps for you it isn't needed. A lot of people still prefer SWBFSpy since the multiplayer is much more stable and has Dedicated servers. Plus, a pretty awesome community on SWBFGamers.

Thanks for the quick answer. I thought this mod might make it possible but what you say makes sense. Oh well. Long story short, I really wanted to do that lol.

Nope. Completely different maps (small differences make them incompatible) and many other reasons contribute to it being impossible

So, it isn't possible at all to to cross play between PS2 and PC?

I'm very well aware. I've followed and helped people out on the SWBF2 Steam community for over a year now.
