[PATCHED] Missing Swivel Engine in Tutorial

KSP 1.12.4 has fixed the tutorials, making this guide unnecessary.

KSP 1.12.2 broke the construction tutorials by replacing the Swivel engine and hiding the old one. This guide will show you where to find the old Swivel and advance in the tutorial. Additionally, the tutorials have several other problems such as 1.12's new load craft UI made the Hopper craft in the second construction tutorial inaccessible.

Why does this happen?

In the most recent update, version 1.12.2, Squad replaced the models for the Swivel and Reliant engines with new models. When they revamp parts, they don't replace the old part, but instead hide the old part from the build menu to prevent old craft from breaking. Usually, they update the tutorials when they revamp parts, but they didn't update the tutorials to use the new Swivel, causing the glitch.

The Hopper craft doesn't show up because the tutorial had custom code to look in a specific part of the game to load the craft, which can't show up with the new craft loader in 1.12.

The Fix

Swivel Engine

The advanced sort menus in the VAB don't hide old parts, however. Open the advanced sort tab by clicking the arrow in the top left corner of the VAB menu, then select Filter by Manufacturer from the new options.


















In the manufacturer filter, find Jebediah Kerman's Junkyard and Spacecraft Parts Co.















The Swivel engine should be the last part in the part list. Select it and add it to your rocket. The tutorial should now let you proceed.

Hopper

The mod Tutorial Fixes[forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com] by linuxgurugamer adds a new Hopper craft identical to the missing one in the Stock folder in the craft loader. Selecting the craft will allow the tutorial to continue.
This mod will also unhide the Swivel engine and fix some other craft broken by part revamps.

Parachutes not deploying

On the first launch mission, if you don't go extremely horizontal the parachutes will not deploy because the minimum pressure is set very high. On a real mission the parachutes would not deploy under the tutorial's settings. Before taking off, right-click the parachute and set the pressure to the lowest possible value.

I honestly uninstalled and reinstalled this game to figure out that tutorial. happened to be randomly scrolling steam and saw this. I have played before, and needed a refresher

First time playing this game and I've been trying to figure this out for over an hour and now borderline hate this game. The thing that teaches you how to play the game is broken and this game is too complicated for me to figure out on my own. I'm so frustrated that I'd rather get a refund than trying to get around this bug. Poor QC for such a highly rated game.
