Description
The Barracuda II Heavy Bomber was designed to replace the ageing Barracuda. The new model is faster, much more agile and carries light defensive weaponry to aid against fighters. With an Active ECM system and able to carry UFAC grade firepower at a fraction of the price, the Barracuda offers a fantastic amount of bang for your buck. However, despite the upgrades, the Barracuda is slower than most Hyperion Systems small ships and must be guarded by fighters.

Instructions
  • Always use the hot bar short-cut to dock connectors instead of the default key. The integrity of the ship and the continuity of the conveyor system depends on the two internal connectors being locked. I wouldn't unlock the rotor either.
  • This ship has been tested in MP and is usable with reasonable latency. However some issues persist. Having the host paste the ship is recommended if possible.

Notes
*Due to the multi-grid nature of this craft and the limitations of projectors, some parts of this ship must be built by hand.

Based on the rotor based Small-Large grid interface by Ravric and featured in his Multi-Role Heavies: http://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=416527967

I try to make all my ships suitable for use in survival, if you use my ships and find a bug/problem, let me know.

I love this design so much I took the big lauchers of the sides and put reloadables and gatlings on instead for myself. Great building!

For those really interested in this ship even though it is broken coz of the updates, u can manage to somehow fix it by removing the rotor inside it's belly that makes it go nuts and glitchy, by for exemple spawning it high in the sky in creative, breakinside it and remove the rotor befor it crash. it will fix it mostly and let u fly it in and out of the atmosphere. not the msot efficient way am sure. but as long as u break that rotor even by crashing it u are golden.

Yeh I was looking at that other ship. it gave me an idea - but I design for function more then asthetics so my ships look blockyish/clunky lol.

However - My idea would be - build a ship that comes apart via merge blocks - the front section docks with the "large grid" weapons. then the rear drive section merge docks with front section.

could use a little "tug" ship on each section to help assist docking. Or even dock each section to pistons? then the pistons push the ship back together (or close enough for merge blocks to merge)

though I do still like your ship design :)

@Dunewolf I'm afraid this ship is a bit tricky to build in survival as projectors do not support multiple grids. To build it, you will need to place the large grid blocks manually. There are only 7 block however. It's also easier if you leave the roof off until you've done the inside.

Alternatively, just build this: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=536895023 It's a better ship that does virtually the same thing. It's more expensive, but goes faster, has more firepower, is tougher and is much easier to build in survival.

Ive had trouble getting this ship to work - the weapons dont "project" to be built - maybe they could be added as secondary projection somehow? -- I could see myself flying this ship to set location and locking it down - then building the weapons via large projector. if the weapons was available as large projection. unless im doing it wrong somehow o.O

@Chabin The ship has decoys in the sides that are rapidly switched by a programming block. If turret targeting is working correctly this is quite good at making you harder to hit with turrets.

What constitutes the electonic countermeasure system?

Very nice design. I like the top profile view of the ship as well.
