Make sure to install Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable along with the patch.

Note: When switching to other versions of game, make sure to go to your options menu and reset your settings to default or your game could potentially crash. Make sure to also delete the plugins folder and dinput8.dll file due to code breaking in other versions.

How to install

• Click on the download link located above.
  
  
• Once you have clicked on the link you will be taken to a Steam Notice. Click on "Continue to external site".
  
  
• You will be met with this screen:
  

  

  
  
• To download the files, click on the download button.
  

  

  
  
• A download pop up will appear on screen.
  
  
• Once installed onto your computer, click on the file to open the folder. An extraction software will be required.
  (WinRAR, 7zip, etc.)
  
  
• When opened you will see a file named "RE5 QOL FIXES". Click on the folder to view all the files you will be drag and dropping into your game's main directory.
  

  

  
  
• Now you are going to go to the location of Resident Evil 5's main directory to replace the old files.
  
  
• Open your steam library
  
  
• Right click on Resident Evil 5 and click on "Properties..."
  

  

  
  
• Once you have opened the "Properties..." window, click on the "LOCAL FILES" tab and then on "Browse..."
  

  

  
  
• Now you will see Resident Evil 5's main directory
  

  

  
  
• Simply drag and drop the files, click replace
  

  

  
  
• And there you go! Now you have the new patch installed and can run your game like usual. Enjoy!

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: After installing the patch, the crosshair has been replaced by a laser sight. How do I revert it?
A: Go to your Game Settings, turn Laser OFF, then go into Keyboard/Mouse Settings, change your control type to Type A or B.

Q: My game crashes as soon as I press any key. How can I solve this?
A: Try installing the prerequisite in the Download tab and attempt launching your game again. If this does not work, try removing the dinput8.dll and plugins folder.

Q: Can I combine this patch with maluc's most recent patch?
A: No, maluc's patch uses a different version of the maluc.dll which will cause a lot of conflicts and potential crashes.

Q: Is maluc's mml mod compatible with this patch?
A: No, maluc's mml was made specifically for version 2 of Capcom's official patch. This patch and maluc's patch are both based on version 1 which was the original release.

@Vrillified After uninstalling the patch, head over to the options menu and select the last setting "Default", then readjust your key bindings and other settings if needed.

If you care about the technical explanation, for us to add new options to the game settings and have them saved to your save file like the rest, we had to optimize the settings to make room for the new ones, changing each setting from 4 bytes to 1 byte each, and then convert the vanilla settings into our new format when you first launch the game with our patch.
Of course, the vanilla game won't do the opposite procedure, and so it will start reading numbers completely wrong, meaning your "control type" can go from being the first one out of two (Type A) to the 175th one, which doesn't even exist in a way

When I uninstalled the game, verified its files and deleted its game folder, after reinstalling I booted up the game and went into story mode and a strange camera glitch happened where I could look around in all directions with the camera but no cross hair was there and then after putting the patch back in the game worked fine, I assumed it was the patch that had permanent files implemented. I had no mods installed at the time the cross hair glitch

Hello I was wondering how to fully uninstall the fix pack and revert back the game to its original state, I have tried to delete the game folder, verify integrity of files and reinstall after doing all that and it doesn't seem to revert it back to its original state. Is there any fix to this?

@Gorgoroth56 No, the only language affected would be Chinese, at least until the patch is updated.
Once you install the patch and launch the game, you'll be able to change it from the "Game Settings" in the "options" menu (without having to exit the game)

@sam47008, we already have a new control style that will be similar to RE4's tank style controls buuuut it's still a bit buggy. You can definitely expect it on the next update for sure! It'll be a work in progress though.
