Odysseys: deleted scenes

Description
These were the first and last rooms in my original plans for Odysseys. If you haven't beaten Odysseys, go do that first
This map isn't actually finished or terribly well tested but I decided to update it anyway because I'm out of time and it's better than what's on the workshop now. The first two runs should work well enough but the final didn't really get built so it will probably either be insanely easy or impossible. As well, there will eventually be a puzzle involved in getting up the shaft in the second room. Solution doesn't involve blocking bullets with the cube or killing the turrets other than with the PDV. I will eventually get this finished but honestly, there's a lot of great stuff in the workshop, and the "rescue the cubes challenge" in Odysseys to keep you few players happy. Oh, and word of adivce: it might be a good idea to practise segments in room 1 without the cube beforehand. Edit: I'm now fairly sure I forgot to make the doors near the entrance open for piii; they were meant to work exactly like they did in Odysseys, so just noclip or something. Sorry about that. Also, the faith plate near the exit to room 1 becomes unusable from pii onwards; forgot to connect the light bridge.

I said it was unfinished in the description, though I may finish it this weekend. Thanks for the tip about skipping the maze. Also, I suppose you probably downloaded the original Odysseys, which is now this (long story). It's fixed to perfection, feel free to try it here if you want an adventure

what absolute junk!; the map is unfinished, doesn't complete and the shaft room is mostly skippable. what a waste of time. downthumbed.

Thank you sir. I'll do all the tweaking I can, when I can (and then maybe eventually remake it in Hammer, so the entity limit doesn't keep me from using all 5 of the original rooms).

I didn't do anything unusual. Don't know why the doors hate me. ;) Since there just was a mapping challenge themed around angled panels, I had my fair share of jumping into angled portals the past few days. Generally it was a pain. If you ask me it is harder than it used to be. Maybe a patch in the game engine that changed something or I'm just imagining it.

You were not exaggerating when you called this map ambitious. I'm highly impressed so far. There may be some things to tweak but it is already an outstanding map. I have to finish it another time, but it is nice to have a good map waiting for me for when I'm ready to continue the challenge.

And yeah, i found that fling a bit imperfect. Think it could be improved? It seemed to work better in Ovine... maybe the height is important for hitting the panel properly

Odd, it should disappear as soon as you press Button 1, and another will start on the other side. Did you do anything unusual?

Hm, that worked well this time. I tried it before - once - and failed to go far enough so I dismissed that idea. Should always test twice... Again I was feeling lost after opening the door. I was going back and forth a few times but always found locked doors. The door to room 2 shut whenever I touched the fizzler that was in front of it. On the fifth time or so the fizzler was gone on this side and I could finally enter room 2.

Oh, and I realized one of the hints I posted in the comments is now misleading; the one about the faith plate, specifically. I recommend you guys just deduce how the laserfield works

The problem with needs noclipping in the room with the funnel happens if you funnel over to the door without the cube in the right place; there are no portalable surfaces so you can't get back. I've asked my brother to go on and fix it for me, so this should get solved. As for the room with the faith plate, ignore the white square by the stairs; it's an angled panel during the final part. The intended solution involves the same sort of fling used in ColorCubeMan's 'Ovine', from the Shepherd Company Collection; blue portal on the square on the ground, orange portal on the ceiling so you fall toward the angled panel, orange portal on the panel so you go flying out of the blue portal at an angle. That's why that square is recessed, so that you launch the right way. This is the intended way to pull off the timed part and it's still tight; fortunately, you should only have to do it once.

Even after opening the exit that way I find myself lost. In your update you say to noclip back. What do you mean by going to the exit door in room 2 before I was supposed to. I'm pretty sure I did the two first rooms as intended. Did I have to wait for something to happen?
