[FSF] Efficient Utilities

Description
Discontinued

As of 1.5 this mod is discontinued, although it will likely work fine for future versions without changes. From now on I will be supporting the mod [FSF] Power Generation Multiplier. It's a very simple and highly compatible alternative.

Description

This is a small all in one fix for the most obnoxious power drainers when it comes to colony building. Instead of building how people want they are forced to use them sparingly or exploit them in silly ways like hooking 8 beds to a single vitals monitor. The power usage has been cut to about 1/3 for all of these devices allowing you to build more of them without constructing massive power networks or using silly work arounds.

Customization

It’s very easy to modify the mod if you aren’t fond of the default numbers or want to remove one of the utilities modified. You will however have to redo your changes if the mod is updated. You can find the mod located under

Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\294100\951619111

The file you need to edit is located under the Patches folder. Simply open the file in notepad and you’ll be able to modify it. Inside you’ll find 4 paragraphs of text, each one is for a different item. If you want to remove Vitals Monitors for example delete the entire paragraph relating to it. If you want to change the power consumption look for the utility you want and change the number inside <basePowerConsumption> to whatever number you want.

getting back into this game and the amount of power used by super small objects (including mods) is crazy. so the fact this exists AND covers mods is insane. thank you for this you absolute legend

I've done a quick update for this mod with some minor balance changes so people who like it can use it for 1.5. Most notably the lights which didn't take into account the Advanced Lights research halves power draw.

Personally I think I'll be dropping this mod from my mod list. I had an alternative idea for managing power for a long time. Rather than reducing the power draw of a few items which is a pain for mod compatibility. I could instead increase the amount of power generated from power sources. In the future I'll likely be adding a new tweak to my tweaks collection that allows you to scale power generation items by a multiplier of your choosing, much like the Improved Vanometric Power Cell tweak.

Could support be added for the auto garage doors in Vanilla Vehicles Expanded? And the reinforced autodoors from CE Armory?

Didn't wall light have its own options menu where you could tweak the power usage?
