DROD RPG: Tendry's Tale is a 2D puzzle dungeon-crawler with RPG, optimization and resource management elements.

This is a logic game that highlights unique puzzle and strategy mechanics. DROD RPG combines the puzzling elements of DROD with the rogue-like fare of player stats, one-on-one monster duels, items, custom power-ups and treasure. It's a resource management game similar to "Desktop Dungeons" set in the DROD world.

What makes DROD RPG different from the typical dungeon crawl experience is that it is a puzzle game that contains no randomness or procedurally-generated areas. Enemy encounters, items, areas and treasures are all hand-crafted to bring you a series of engaging, well thought-out puzzles that are a joy to solve. There is no max cap to your stats, but resources are limited and you have to make the best use of them. Decide whether to fight monsters and get the reward for killing them now or come back later when you can take less damage and conserve your HP. There is no grinding and each area is a hand-crafted experience. Movement is turn-based, so play this game to relax and contemplate, or take advantage of its large depth and optional elements of challenge and replayability.

Combining DROD's straight-forward interface and flexible puzzle widgets with the staples of rogue-like play makes for a novel gaming experience. Along with a powerful level editor, online features, and an enthusiastic player community, this is a game you can enjoy for years.

The story

Join Tendry, a member of the Stalwart Army, who is trapped far beneath the surface after battling a menacing Underground Empire. He might not be the ideal warrior, but he's got a lot of panache to make up for his lack in prowess. Or at least he's always good for a laugh. Keep him from killing himself in battle long enough to save his homeland.

Key features

  • 13 interlocking puzzle levels with rooms filled with traps, secrets, and surprises.
  • 25 swords, shields and special items to find, each with special capabilities.
  • Many other game elements based off DROD's singular puzzle experience.
  • Dozens of monster types and boss enemies with varying abilities and behavior.
  • Powerful campaign editor and modding capabilities.
  • Active and friendly player community on the Caravel Forum.
