"When it comes to strategic vehicular combat there has never been a game as engaging and as robust" 9/10 -- Game Tunnel

"the best thing going since Auto Assault drove off a cliff." -- Games For Windows Magazine

Battle for survival and supremacy in the gritty post-apocalyptic world of vehicular combat where strategy and tactics determine winners and losers. Darkwind is a fast-moving turn-based combat game inspired by the Car Wars boardgame.

Manage a gang of characters, with skills and specialisms; design your own cars and scavenge for parts. Make your fortune in racing, deathracing and arena combat leagues, or venture into the wilderness and engage in tense multiplayer battles with pirates, traders and other players.

Trade for parts, cars and weapons in the dynamic economy of a world where your characters will age, sustain permanent injuries, and die. The detailed weapon stats, and the detailed combat system with critical hits, injuries and healing, psychology and leadership ensure a strategic challenge like few other online games.

Key Features:
- Tense, strategic turn-based deathracing and vehicular combat
- Compete in 20+ leagues on over 50 racetracks and arenas
- Open-world travel, trading and missions on nearly 100 wilderness maps
- Full PvP or cooperative PvE - you decide
- 50+ types of vehicles, customisable with 40+ weapons
- Detailed, physics-driven movement and combat
- Detailed combat system, involving combat psychology, hundreds of injuries and perma-death

"The brutality of Darkwind is the most appealing thing about it. Your team ages: at 30 their stats start dropping, at 40 their skills follow. You'll give them nicknames, train them, get attached to them, maybe even unlock specialities such as Engine Tuner or Negotiator, and then they'll die." 80% -- PC Gamer Magazine

"When it comes to strategic vehicular combat there has never been a game as engaging and as robust as Dark Wind. Car Wars or Mad Max fans prepare to waste away entire weekends as you build characters, fleets of cars, even small towns in an attempt to survive the harsh waste of the future." 9/10 -- Game Tunnel

"Most addictive game of the year: no challenge for this category - I have never encountered a game quite as addictive as Darkwind. Post-apocalyptic settings, cars with armour and guns, deathraces, battles with gangs of pirates... all very thrilling stuff." 90% -- Bytten

Having played Darkwind off and on for roughly 2 years I am suprised it took this long to get into a roject such as greenlight. I am a big fan of the game but have to bring attention to one advertized flaw. I guess in a sense you can say open world when describing Darkwind, But truly it is not. there are many "paths" you can take from each town to the other towns, yes. However it is not "open world" in all reality. make it so and add/finish the on foot aspect of the game along with a "campaign" and I truly believe this game could EXPLODE the mmo genre.

Thanks guys. I'm just looking into the Steam API will I'll need to integrate into the game client. Also overhauling the DW website, and doing a few tweak and balances. So, looking at a couple of months anyhow.

If you ever loved Steve Jackson's Car Wars, run, do not walk, to Darkwind. Car design, personel managment, skills, guns, and V-8s instead of those pansy electric engines in Car Wars.

Darkwind is on my very, very short list of all time favorite games.

Not just turn based racing and Death racing (with multiple cars), combat with up to 20 vehicles is where you realise why turn base is a must in this game. Running 10 trucks at once through a slaver ambush in Badlands, managing speed, steering, gun fire from anywhere up to 8 points on a truck (less for smaller vehicles) would not be possible in real time.

Turn based racing? You don't see that every day. Interest peaked.
