The Alpha Has Been Released!
Release date: Alpha available now!
Development status: alpha.
Download for free at:

Captured under mysterious circumstances and infected with a power-granting parasite, players must navigate a series of challenging 2D levels with the hope of getting out and getting cured!

Parapraxis Foundations is a completely free public prototype of the engine, art, music and gameplay that will eventually be used to build a storydriven 2D-action trilogy.

As a community led development you will have direct influence upon Parapraxis Foundations through community designed maps, forums and leaderboards. We're currently heading towards our first public alpha release, which will coincide with the introduction of an online community on our website. You'll be able to see what we plan to update and add in the future, make your own suggestions and (eventually) submit your own content!

Current releases:

What we have already:
  • Time trial mode - modern 2D platforming with an emphasis on speed.
  • Sprint, skid and hanging systems that give players full control of the action.
  • Easy to learn, hard to master gameplay.
  • Keyboard / controller support (both with fully remappable controls).
  • Local multiplayer.
  • Checkpoint system.
  • Profile system (save your controls, player name and colour).
  • Windows support.
  • Animations and shaders (new trailer on its way)!

Future features:
  • A forum where we will listen to your feedback.
  • A community release of our map editing software.
  • Combo-based combat.
  • A host of experimental game-types, including detective mode (puzzles!).
  • Competitive leaderboards.
  • Online/LAN multiplayer.
  • Hidden collectibles that reveal lore.
  • Localisation to other territories.
  • Linux/Mac support.

Keep up to date:

Thanks to everyone that has commented with words of encouragement, suggestions and critiques. We appreciate the time you've spent posting here! Your comments help direct development and provide valuable feedback.

Необходимо дорабатывать! Пока оч сыро. Да и какую-нибудь фишку добавить надо, т.к такого плана игр полно.

@Nanobang - Thanks for the feedback.

We have support for up to 4 controllers, keyboard or gamepad (360 controllers).

Normally I just vote "no" to a 2D platformer, but I've hesitated here. The graphic design is at once unique and engaging and the action not a little hypnotic, so I'll keep an eye on what developes before I cast my vote. Just one qestion, does this (or will this) have controller support?
