Description


Stellaris' basic rooms are just that: 'basic'. I've always found them a little uninspiring and bland. Every single empire you encounter talks to you from a similar rectangular room, with a slightly different window, looking out onto a slightly different planetary surface with some slightly different form of city on it. I get it, it's functional and efficiently conveys the information you want it to convey to the player..

However, I feel those rooms do not do justice to the wonderful stories Stellaris sometimes creates, the sense of awe you should feel when you encounter a Fallen Empire, the shock at stepping onto an Artist Enclave and seeing a multitude of alien races, and so on..

What does this mod do exactly?
  • Adds close to 300 more rooms
  • Makes available to the player some of the 'hidden' Paradox rooms

If you're using Diverse Rooms and are contacted by one of your own custom-made races (with a room from this mod), it's highly likely you'll encounter a bug that we haven't been able to squash yet: first you'll see the 'basic' room for the race's government type and, when you contact them again, you'll see the room you assigned them from Diverse Rooms.

If this bothers you immensely, I highly recommend using the companion mod Diverse Basics to mitigate the effects.






Ironman compatible! (Unless the ironman mode is lying to me). Should have no other mod compatibility issues, unless that mod somehow extensively reworks how Stellaris uses the room backgrounds.

Diverse Rooms has been updated for Stellaris 2.7.2

I've finally been able to change the mod's description to more accurately reflect the amount of content in this mod! Previously this was impossible because LastLeviathan is the original uploader of the mod. This role cannot be transfered to me unfortunately. On the plus side, Paradox's new launcher now makes it possible to directly edit the description on the Steam workshop..

I've removed the links to LastLeviathan's outdated mods.

No new rooms were added. I do occassionally run into some great looking backdrops, but it's becoming very difficult to justify adding any more. 300 additional rooms is more than enough.

TO BE FAIR: I have simply changed the version number and the description. I'll see if my game crashes with just this mod active in a little while. If I can replicate the crashes, I'll see what can be done about them. Otherwise I suggest deactivating for now and returning at a later stage..

Works fine here. If you have a crash it is likely due mod conflict in \gfx\portraits\asset_selectors\******room_textures.txt game_setup and ruler scopes. Move this mod down in the load order and it should work.

Wondering about the .dds format of the rooms in this mod. With Gimp installed I noticed all the files have thumbnails in explorer, but I was manipulating the vanilla shrouded world image to the same size to use as a room. Works in-game but doesn't have a thumbnail preview in explorer. Just a quality of life nitpick.

I had a similar experience; it is either this mod or this mod's interaction with another mod.

So, seems to cause the game to crash a load on 2.7.1. Tracked it down to this mod in particular, though I don't know if it's in combination of another mod or of it's a stand alone issue.
