Description

Melee Weapons in the primary inventory slot

Supports LW2 and vanilla XCOM 2

Currently LW2 Samurai Class, Vanilla Samurai Class and the Jedi Class (Lightsabers only) support primary melee weapons out-of-the-box.

Adds Primary Weapon variants of

  • Vanilla swords
  • Katana, Ninjato, Wakizashi, Vortex from Katana Pack Reloaded
  • Axes from the Axe Mod
  • Scimitars from the Celatid Alien Mod (Either Celatid Alien Mod or Celatid Alien Mod LW2 is needed for Primary Scimitars to show up)
  • Mercenary Plasma Blade from the Mercenary Plasma Weapons Mod (Either Mercenary Plasma Weapons Mod or LW2 Mercenary Plasma Weapons Mod is needed)
  • Lightsabers
  • Genji Blades

The damage of the katana mod weapons are increased by one.

Primary melee weapons allows classes to define the sword category as primary weapon category, without having a soldier with bare hands

Obtaining higher tiers
Higher tiers are unlocked when you buy the coresponding vanilla sword tier.
The primary weapons are bought separatly from the secondary variants.

Cosmetic Variants
There is a config value if you only want cosmetic variants which have no stat difference to the vanilla swords and without additional perks
just set
bNinjatoIsCosmetic=true
bKatanaIsCosmetic=true
bWakizashiIsCosmetic=true
bAxeIsCosmetic=true
bThrowingAxeIsCosmetic=true
(Default is false)

Compatibility
  • This mod comes with a default integration to Grimys Loot Mod
  • This mod should work on existing save games.

Support your custom class to use primary melee weapons

This is a guide for modders or players who know what they do!
I am not responsible if you break you game/class messing with ini files.


Enable classes to use primary melee weapons in XComClassData.ini
+AllowedWeapons=(SlotType=eInvSlot_PrimaryWeapon, WeaponType="sword")

If you do you probably need to adjust the perks that you want to apply to the primary melee weapon as well.
For example:
AbilityName="Swordslice_LW", ApplyToWeaponSlot=eInvSlot_PrimaryWeapon

You shouldnt allow a class to use both guns and melee weapons cause most perks are not designed to support that.
E.g. you wouldnt want to perform reaper with an assault rifle.

Credits
The katana, wakizashi, ninjato and axe models are made by escrimator.
Make sure you give this exceptional artist some props.

The Scimitars are from the Celatid Alien mod and full credits and thanks to Stenchfury and Shadow79 for the creation and permission to let me use them in this mod.

The Mercenary Plasma Blade is from the Mercenary Plasma Weapons Mod. Full credits and thanks to Claus the creation and permission to let me use them in this mod.

There is a dual wield melee mod for wotc. The wotc equivalent of this mod for wotc is Primary Secondaries.

Just wanted to mention another weapon idea for the jedi but a katana that looks like the darksaber could be an added possibility.
Is a saber from the clone wars. Is practically a black blade with glowing white edges if I recall correctly. Just a thought :)

I must admit nothing beats the jedi one though! I have had alot of fun with just entire squads of jedi! haha :P

Lightsabers were not available to rangers but than can be changed with a small ini edit.
And i can confirm the Jedi, when finally released will be able to wield dual lightsabers.

@Musashi Will the weapons be compatible with the primairy secondary mod (and thus the dual wield mod)?

I can't remember if the lightsabers were available to normal rangers aswell anymore. Currently running a WOTC version so can't really check.
