Help LotY to win Indie of the Year 2017
Release date: Release Ready

In a beautiful start to an adventure, Outcast: Legacy of the Yods, brings you into the world of Adelpha as imagined by a group of dedicated fans. As an effort started in 2003, "Eternal Outcasts" passionate developers and a lot of them, future game developers have been working through multiple iterations of the game. This release is a culmination for the project and a milestone for many of us. This 3rd-person action adventure will allow you to take a tour in the world of Adelpha. The content of the "Demo" brings you a short experience, in which you solve mysteries of an Oasis you encounter on your journey on your way to the beautiful Cyana. We also understand that the game still has some issues. We hope that they will not interrupt or ruin your experience. This is a game made by fans, in their spare time and will be released free of charge with permission of the original IP owners.

One last thing. Just don't expect the locals to be of any help.
Well, they will be helpful - at least that's what they will think.

The production you are "green-lighting" provides 30 minutes to 1 hour of content and will ship with the following features:

  • "Normal" and "Classic" way of playing. Those allow you to play through the demo with modern game design choices (such as quest guidance) or disable those, if you are a fan of old-time adventure gaming.
  • Fully voiced cast of characters.
  • Beautiful, cinematic and dynamically adjusted soundtrack.
  • Two locations for you to sight-see.
  • Combat.. and limited AI - that still needs some work.
  • A modernized quest system.
  • Environments which take full advantage of DirectX 11 features.
  • Support for your Gamepad Controller.

We would also like to thank all of our fans who gave us the support in the past years. We would not be able to finish this release without you.

Congratulations Legacy of the Yods Dev Team!

I was a tester during the beta phase of this demo years ago and I was just thinking of this game the other day and look and behold you guys released a final demo build! There were a lot of nice changes from the demo build I played. I really enjoyed playing through this game again it was a nice trip down memory lane.

BTW, I noticed the bugs I reported were fixed :)

Thank you, given the high quality of visuals I didn't think it was a community fan project !

Open Outcast and Outcast: Legacy Of The Yods is the same project. It was started as Open Outcast, but later in 2013 the team decided to change the project name, because people thought it's an open source project (which wasn't) and were asking for sources. So it was renamed to Outcast: Legacy of the Yods. This is related to the non-profit community-driden project. Second Contact is an official Appeal's HD-reboot of the priginal Outcast with modern graphics.
