"I have long been disappointed by the fact that Star Trek Online does not have this correct weapons loadout as depicted in the show.
All vessels have an independent torpedo system which is wholly unrelated to the beam array system.
This is how our vessels should actually be equipped, with three projectile slots dedicated specifically for projectile weapons.

The reasoning behind this concept is I am always irritated that specific set bonuses are connected to a torpedo and since I don't want to give up a beam array to acquire it, these bonuses are forever inaccessible.

This loadout would allow me to acquire those bonuses and still keep my ship effective in gameplay."

I specifically used Antiproton because they look like Reaper weapons technology.
I'm headcanoning it by pretending the ship is actually doing that.

They introduced a new kind of weapon a few weeks ago, the Heavy Weapon.
One of them is like the Turian Hydromagnetic canon used by the Normandy SR2.
Unfortunately, this cannot be equipped on cruisers, otherwise I'd have done so! :wrynscared:

And yes, me and my fleetmates were using the line "fire the main gun" that day.....

@Hyde I wasn't proposing that cannons/turrets be removed from the game. I simply used my beamboat as the test example here,

My proposal is that all ships regardless of class get the extra 3 projectile slots.
So players can use whatever weapons they prefer without having to give up one or more for projectiles.

@Hunter_F16 I was talking about how the current system is setup, where I'd like to have torpedos but don't becuase my DHC/Turret build is to sweet. If there was ever an update such as posted then I'd use torpedos.

@Hyde I don't think they'd disallow cannons/turrets, because only allowing beam weapons would make cannons/turrets obsolete.
