Vanilla Trees Remover

Removes vanilla trees from the map, from buildings and from roads. Configurable.

Provides options to remove vanilla trees from your game.

Use the checkboxes in the options menu to remove vanilla trees from:

  • Map:
Activate this option to get rid of all free-standing vanilla trees from your city.

  • Buildings:
This option removes vanilla trees from all assets, including intersections, parks, etc. Not just strictly "buildings". Use this to remove ugly vanilla trees from your favourite assets, then place custom plants manually.

  • Roads:
Use this option if you want to remove trees from roads. It's only really useful for existing cities where you've already placed many roads with trees that you want to quickly get rid of. For new roads, you can obviously just use grass-only roads instead...

If you use Network skins to replace trees on roads, then you probably want to disable the roads removal option.

Required Mods:

Prop & Tree Anarchy - This mod is not strictly required, however: if you use Vanilla Trees Remover to remove trees for buildings, you will need Prop & Tree Anarchy mod in order to place custom trees inside a building's footprint; this is why I listed is as required. If you dont need this option, then you don't require Prop & Tree Anarchy.

This mod is incompatible with any other mod that manipulates the Tooltip on plants.
Any mod that detours ShowToolInfo method in ToolBase class is incompatible.
This might change in future versions, if any.

NOTE: It takes a few seconds when you load your city before all the trees are removed and the LOD's updated. Especially if you have a large city. Just be patient.

NOTE2: IMPORTANT!!! In order for custom trees you manually place inside a building's footprint to show when you load a save, you need to set Tree & Prop Anarchy options to Always On. Also you need to set Auto Unhide option to on.

If you like this mod, please take a moment to rate+! Feeling generous and want to show some appreciation? Consider making a small donation[]. While not required, it is always a great incentive. Thank you.

Can second Sakuro's experience; if I try to view options for this mod while in-game, there will be none listed and instead the options for the mod next in the load order will be shown. Options working fine from main menu though. Might be issue on my end though.

Hi TPB, I like your mod and I think it is a very important and useful mod because of the Network Skin performance issue. I just wanted to tell you that I found a bug on the mod list into the options panel. Indeed, there is a kind of lag when you select your mod then another one just after it...Don't know if someone mention it before me but...

Worked for me, but do NOT use this if you want to use Prop It Up

Bit late to the party but still think the vanilla vegetation is absolute dogsh*t compared to the what's available on the workshop. Mods like this are very much still necessary to enjoy the game imo.

I just wanted to take a moment to personally say “Thank You!” for your time, effort and hard work to provide this mod. It enhances my gaming experience, and I do so appreciate you for providing this to all of us.

i agree... the vanilla trees in game are still horrible and this is pretty much the only mod that removes vanilla trees from assets and buildings which is why i love this mod. it used to work with network skins but after parklife update they dont anymore without crashing. Im keeping this mod until a new one comes out thats compatible with NS, Cuz this mod still works.

I think the Vanilla trees are still massively inferior to just about anything on the workshop. Thick lumpy trunks with low-res textures, foliage like cardboard sheets. With prop it up and this mod both not being fulled updated or playing nicely with network skins, there really isn't much options for getting rid of the vanilla trees anymore :(

NOTICE: The latest DLC (ParkLife) has greatly increased tha quality of vanilla trees, pretty much all vanilla trees have been massively improved to the point where I dont even recommend using this mod anymore. I may revisit it at some point in near future to allow disabling specific vanilla trees only, but in the meanwhile, you may want to consider disabling this mod and giving the vanilla trees another chance :)
