Current state of the game and closing in on release
Cathedral release date postponed to Q2 2018
Release date: Q2 2018

If you like metroidvanias, dungeons, magic, items and being killed by badass bosses, Cathedral has got you covered. Avoid both traps as well as the dangerous creatures that inhabit this peculiar place while claiming back your skills and memories, one dungeon at a time!

Cast into an unknown world with no recollections of your past, you will have to explore to rediscover your origins. Solve puzzles, fight your way through dungeons and make use of both the magic and the items you will find, as well as your trusty sidekick, Soul, to journey back home.

  • Explore a persistent world full of towns, secret areas and items
  • Forge your own path throughout the game and upgrade your items to reach new places
  • Conquer seven full-fledged dungeons filled with puzzles, traps and terrifying bosses
  • Solve side-quests in your quest log to help bring life back to the world and its inhabitants
  • Find and equip charms to your side-kick for unique combat and movement skills
  • Use your map to plot your progress and backtrack throughout the world

The soundtrack is created entirely in Famitracker. Click here to listen to some of the songs[] on our Soundcloud page

  • "There's something instantly familiar about its NES roots and dark dungeon settings. Skulls fly in the same sine waves as Castlevania's Medusa heads. Bats are shockingly capable and aggressive in their attack patterns. Platforming challenges are aptly mixed with all the combat. It's one of those games that you've surely seen before but keep playing nonetheless." - Destructoid
  • "It looks to have the brilliance of Shovel Knight and the charm of the retro classics while having cool platforming dungeons, unique aesthetics, new items, baddies to fight and puzzles in a world filled with secrets and side-quests." - Indie Retro News
  • "In the works since 2014, Cathedral instantly evokes the look, sounds and gameplay of classic Nintendo Entertainment System games to the point that you’d almost think someone went and discovered a hitherto unseen prototype circa 1987 or so." - Fanboy Destroy
