December 2020 Update: For nostalgia sake, and for a few giggles, I've decided the reupload my first 2 versions of this map, the original one that was published back in 2017 and took part in the first map contest, and an "alpha" that was never published. By downloading the mod, you'll automatically download those other 2 version as well.

Solar is more abundant beneath the surface...

Underground is a large and unique map that offers new challenges and tactical opportunities. Half of the map is underground and needs to be illuminated.

The problem is that the generator is unstable and it will occasionally lose it's power, leaving the entire cave in the dark.

It also features a unique mechanic in the form of Team Abilities that can be activated from the team's base, each with their own effect and cooldown time: fortify the turrets with a short duration shield or strike from above and bombard the entire top lane!


- Underground section that occasionally becomes dark (blind debuff)

- Fortify the turrets or send a bombardment!

- NEW! Alternating weather between games!

- Entirely made with custom textures

- AI support

- Arena walls and random spawns for deathmatch

I have also made a few tweaks to the old map, more specifically increased the cooldown on both bombardment and shields, and bombarment duration is now only 8 seconds.

I made these changes according to the feedback from the last map festival.

Big news!
I have decided to remake the entire map from scratch! The new map is still a WIP but it's playable, it's only missing some textures, there are no blackouts, and the bombardment and shields do not work yet.

Underground was the very first map the I made, so I had no idea what I was doing, and this shows in the problems that the old map has - too big, lots of pointless platforms and corridors, bad turret placement, etc.

Hopefully this new map solves all of those issues with a better design.

Hmm that's interesting. I thought it was because they were close to the droppod spawn or something similar, which is why I moved them closer to the map and now they work perfectly. That is useful to know, thanks for sharing it.

CationF, from the sounds of your comment, the button may be "out of bounds". Only within certain coordinates can everybody press buttons. I emailed Thijs about this and the coordinates used to be [-10, 20] for X and [-10, 30] for Y. He increased this to [-30, 30] for launch of 3.5 and it will eventually be bigger than that.

Try and keep your map within those coordinates because other weird stuff happens as well.

WHY THE CHANGE: The spaceship mechanic was very buggy for some reason, only the host could press the buttons and that goes against my vision of what this map should be. It would also be unbalanced since the host's enemies could not press their own buttons. Hopefully this new layout will not have the same problems.

It seems that the patch has broken the buttons on the spaceship, I will try to fix this a soon as I can.
